So I'm looking at this 21:9 LG monitor which is ultrawide and has a native resolution of 3440x1440 @ 60hz refresh. My question is if current HDMI cables will support this resolution. Wikipedia says it's capped at 2560x1440... however I see conflicting information on various Web searches (mostly apple forums for some reason).

I'd use a displayport connection but mine are useless until Nvidia fixes the DP driver issues for the 970s. Until then I'm stuck with HDMI.

    Balls.

"For traditional video cards the display includes a DisplayPort input and two HDMI ports. The HDMI ports are still revision 1.4a so they cannot support 60Hz refresh rates at the monitor's native resolution, but DisplayPort will run at 3440x1440 at 60Hz without any issues, including audio support. Looks like I really need to find a fix for this 9xx display port driver issue.

Can you get a DVI to Display Port adaptor lead?  I've seen some adaptors, but I'm not familiar enough with the Display Port plug to know if they've got the right terminator (i.e. are designed to be plugged into the DVI port on the GPU).

Current PC: Intel Core i7 4790K, Noctua NH-U12S, Asus Z97-Pro, 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz RAM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, Crucial MX100 512GB, Western Digital Black 2TB, EVGA GTX 970 SC (blower), Pioneer BDR-209DBK, Fractal Design Define R4 + Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans, Corsair AX760 PSU, Dell U2713HM

I've seen these adapters but I've no idea how that would effect bandwidth
