EDIT: The international version of this BETA driver appears to have a broken installer giving errors.... *users should ONLY use the "english" version installer at this time IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the changes in this BETA driver, it is recommended to completely uninstall Precision/Afterburner BEFORE attempting to install the new BETA. -->Do NOT save profiles and data during the uninstall to avoid possible corruption and problems. WARNING: These BETA drivers have seen some "under the hood" power/clock state changes related to BOOT Behavior IT IS HIGHLY suggested to avoid these for the next 24-72 hours and see what other users report If your current driver is working fine, dont try these until they have been tested! SERIOUS WARNING Due to the changes in this driver set, users who have flashed a non-stock BIOS or are using the KBoost .bat file SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT INSTALL THIS DRIVER until its behavior is better understood ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well ManuelG mentioned these last night and here they are.... RELEASE NOTES: http://us.download.nvidia...ktop-release-notes.pdf There goes the morning I am off READ the release Notes, and then to test and will report back Some changes noted... NVIDIA Control Panel CHANGES External Power Connector StatusThe NVIDIA Control Panel now shows a warning when a secondary NVIDIA graphics card is not powered through all its power connectors. Support for Windows Store Apps (Windows 8)Added Windows Store apps to the list of programs to which you can apply unique 3D settings from the NVIDIA Control Panel->Manage 3D Settings page. System InformationThe NVIDIA Control Panel->System Information dialog now shows the four-part device IDs, project numbers, and project SKU numbers for the installed GPUs. [1212025] Windows 8 Issues OPEN ISSUE When upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8, the system fails to retrieve the installed WHQL display driver. [1024416]See the Microsoft KB article KB2743349 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2743349. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Windows 8 -SERIOUS- current Known Issue ---NOT FIXED--- Flickering Black Screen Occurs After Installing the NVIDIA Drivers on Windows 8 Issue: After installing the NVIDIA drivers on Windows 8, the subsequent reboot results in a black or flickering screen. Root Cause: This occurs because Windows Update performed a background installation of a Release 304 driver, which requires a reboot to complete the installation. After installing the Release 313 driver and then rebooting the system, installation of both the Release 304 as well as the Release 313 is completed, resulting in conflicting driver binaries and the black/flickering screen. Workaround- Prevention To avoid the issue, reboot the system before installing the Release 313 driver.Alternately, you can check the driver status under the Device Manager and perform the reboot if the Device Manager indicates that a restart is needed. Then install the driver. Workaround - Recovery If you did not perform the necessary reboot prior to installing the driver and now encounter the black screen, do the following: 1 Reboot in Safe Mode. 2 Uninstall the driver. 3 Disconnect from the internet and then restart the system. 4 In normal mode, install the new driver.

rjohnson11 I'll take a look and see if chrome freezes with these I have two dmp files. I never re-installed WinDebug tools so I'm using NirSoft Blue Screen View. One TDR was caused by a USB failure and the other was a HDAudio driver probably also tied to the USB Bus. I have the GeForce HD Audio disabled in Device Mgr.

I had the "cold boot" issue with 310.90. I went back to 310.70 where I had no issue's. Now with this new beta driver, it seems the "cold boot" issue has been resolved. At least on my end.

Something weird happened when I installed these. Windows 7 64 was invalidated. I got a popup from Microsoft Security Essential with a link to resolve issue. The link scanned and validated my system but I have never had that happen before when installing new drivers. Very weird. I am going to go test out the drivers now.

This is because Precision/Afterburner can become corrupted when it is injected (loaded) into the Nvidia driver. This most often occurs when the OSD function is enabled Over half the user problems I have seen the last 4 months can be traced to this exact problem. Its such a quick and simple way to avoid issues, that it should now be done for every driver install UNINSTALL Precision/Afterburner and REBOOT once Then install your driver Do NOT reinstall the program until your new driver is configured and you have rebooted -once- Would quitting the precision process before installing work? I've noticed issues with precision when updating drivers as well but it's always been remedied by closing out of precision before doing the update/reboot. Yes if the data files have not been corrupted The question is how would you know? This problem can create very different issues, from major crashing to minor little stuttering... If in doubt, Uninstall and do NOT save the data/profiles Reboot once after the uninstall is completed. Like I said, if you want it right the first time without having issues Do the correct uninstall and reboot -before- putting in drivers That is my suggestion for best results everytime

maniacvvv Due to "issues" I now personally recommend that users uninstall Precision/Afterburner (and answer NO when asked to save profiles/data) and one reboot, before installing a different driver. The only real requirement is ensuring precision is put back to stock clocks without kboost and then being closed down prior to installing the driver This is because Precision/Afterburner can become corrupted when it is injected (loaded) into the Nvidia driver. It isn't injected into any part of the driver, it hooks the applications loading of specific system binaries (d3d*.dll and opengl32.dll)

My suggestion is only to help users -avoid- those problems

Of course. I did fail to include one specific binary that is loaded by apps like precision - That would be the NVAPI dll's that allow precision to get access to hardware information.

Installed these drivers running 2xgtx 680's sli surround, 6000x1080, so far a little improvement in 3dmark11 and heaven , now for some game testing, one thing about nvidia is that they do work hard to keep up demands. dont have the cold boot issue at all.

spoke to soon, getting that famous nvlddmk display driver crash, bf3 crashes on load, BL 2 crashes after a while and the first GPU usage is lower then the 2nd gpu = low framerate
