Hey Everyone,
Was restarting a couple of folding computers yesterday/today after being in Australia for the last month, saw a big difference in points between the 2x GTX970's.

I am running Windows 7Pro an i5-2500 which is folding on 2 cores.
the first 970 is about 242K PPD,
the second 970 is about 330K PPD.

I have watched it since yesterday and they PPD for each has stayed about the same. WU are pretty much exactly the same also.

Why would there be such a difference between them??

Appreciate any ideas or feedback.

Cheers
Steve

300k+ on a 970 is abnormal but I saw it on my 970 a couple days ago. Unfortunately I didn't make note of what wu it was. There are new core 18's out there that could be giving those kind of #'s.
Also check the TPF from time to time and see if it fluctuates. It happens on some wu's.

The TPF is 2mins 6sec for the slower 970
the TPF is 1min 41sec for the fast 970.

stays about the same for both 970's which ever WU comes through

I'm not sure if all Projects 9104-9114 and 9119-9129 serie WUs are released to Maxwell GPUs yet, but the PPD varies a lot on these WUs.  Even within the same project (for example your P9111), but different Run, Clone, Gen numbers,  the PPD varies a lot.
    It varies between  200k - 280k PPD on my GTX780 Ti's and  60k - 85k PPD on my GTX660 Ti's.

Edit: Just for reference, with P13000/1 (Core17) WUs I got ~235k PPD on my GTX780 Ti's and ~74k PPD on my GTX660 Ti's.

Cool, good to hear everything here is normal or expected..

My 3x 770's produce 95 to 110K each per day.
My 2x 760's produce 75 to 85K each per day.

Just did not expect that much difference between the 970's.

I will have 2 more 970's tomorrow, will see what happens once I install them.

    Cheers

My 970 goes up and down from 275k to 320k PPD depending on unit and all of that. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Is your monitor connected to the one running slower?

    Nathan, no it is not,
I had also experimented with reduced the resolution down from 1920x1080 to 1024x768, but saw no change in PPD on my other folding computers

I've searched the Folding Forums to see if I could find more info about these projects and found it on the Beta forum.
The performance (TPF) difference is between different Runs (not Clone or Gen), here is some info from the project owner, msultan:

I took a look at the structures for these two runs and the issue is that they have a different number of water molecules(hence different TPF). I will talk to Vijay about what might be a good way to get around this issue since we both believe including such a variety of structures reduces the amount of simulation time needed on F@H but it comes at the expense of slightly uneven point allocation. Sorry about the variation guys, I will think about the best way to reduce it.

I've just looked at my HFM WU History Viewer and saw that I have returned ~1500  P9104-9114 WUs and ~100  P9119-9129 WUs (P9119-9129 are just recently released to Advanced).  When I have time I will see if I can find a pattern, and see which Run number have a Higher, Same or Lower PPD compared to P13000/1 WUs.

    Nice info there DutchForce.
I am running beta flag, maybe worth running the advanced flag and see what happens..
