Their website states it just the stats server and not the folding itself that is affected. Unless you are referring to "if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it did it ever really fall.." haha    In that case...my computer is just a space heater right now

If a work unit is completed and no points are shown, has the protein folded?

Does a tree falling in the woods make a sound.....When no-one is there to hear it???

Did you just crack or rip a Joke or maybe Split one

Yes, its not so much a joke as a philosophical perspective.  The age old question "if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sounds?" raises the philosophical questions can something exist if it is not perceived.

Points are how we perceive our progress in folding, but if the stats aren't there to be percieved - does our progress actually exist?

I like the Idea of this Tree because with the Stats Down No One Really Knows Which Way It Will Really Fall As We Will Not See It.
(Hint We See No Status Nor Tree)

For me I Really Hope that the Tree Falls on my Side than on CoolGTX Side.
Believe me I am really upset with the Stats being down during out TZC.

I must say,the worst Internet I had was AT&T. It took them several months to track down a connection problem. Caused tons of drop outs daily until fixed.

If all the backlogged points are credited on the same day, we're going to have a daily output record that stands for quite a while.  Of course it would need an asterisk by it, but people always forget about the asterisks...

Well, we all know EM would have taken the goal first. So one of the Pacific folks must have bribed the Stanford IT team. Even the server status page got put down, leaving more up in the air. Maybe they'll have to get another new server. We can only hope they find a more permanent solution to this random server failure.
Good job folks.

Personally, I don't care too much where the end goal is, but 1 billion might be a better target if they can't get the server up today. It's a long weekend and at this late stage I'm not sure they can pull it off. They've had all day and last time they took almost a week to get the replacement.

Hey guys. I was 5 days late to register, totally my fault. After I registered, I was added to the contestant's page but my name didn't get added to any team page. Do my points still count for team Central? Again, sorry for late registration.

I'm afraid if you're not listed under the individuals page you didn't make the cut off. Sorry.

Personally I can't go all in like I have this week. I'm on the electric company budget plan. One huge month and they can jack me up for many months. I could probably keep one card going until the PG challenge in 7 days and then again after.

Mine too..I could probably hang clothes to  dry on it when it's folding also ...normally I feel no heat coming off but it's fun to FOLD for a good cause for a bit! Although some of these guys make me want to get a couple Titan X(p)s. (Folding envy)

Update from Anton Thynell:   Re: Stats System Outage

by Anton Thynell » Fri Nov 11, 2016

Fah-web.stanford.edu is still down, Stanford IT is working on it.

We have moved the donor, team and os stats to a new server.

previously:
http://fah-web.stanford.e...ain.py?qtype=userstats
http://fah-web.stanford.e...ain.py?qtype=teamstats
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=osstats2

is now:
http://folding.stanford.edu/stats/donors
http://folding.stanford.edu/stats/teams
http://folding.stanford.edu/stats/os

I don't think this will work for Drougnor and our Contest Stats, because there are still no flat files available.
And it looks like they are having a big problem with the server.

Edit: This update is also posted on the Blog:   Stats System is up and running under a new url

I'm fiddling around with the redirected address and am not finding the flat files, so I think they only updated the dynamic pages for personal lookups. I'm gonna keep picking at the edges, tho, to see if I trip over something.

I say push it - I know some folks were set to throttle back around now but this server thing is a real bust!

Any other time would have been ok but we are all going to exceed the 600 so I can't talk smack. And I wanted some payback after being on the losing team last year!!
Set up a way to vote if you can - or make an executive decision. I am fine with your choice.
