Alright, we're cut off on signups. We're locking up over the next 12 hours or so to ensure we're all set for the kickoff at midnight of the 1st!

Best of luck to you, and let's get our best Pimp faces on, ladies and gents!

d

Just to be perfectly clear that is midnight EDT -4 GMT right, 23 hours and 45 minutes from now?

12:01AM EDT Nov 1st.

I always think of midnight as the end of the day.  April 15 midnight is the deadline to get your taxes filed.
Meaning you have all day of the 15TH to do them.

After some thought, I have relented and allowed the last three entrants into the system.  We're REALLY locked down now, however. Anyone that signs up after BadBertie on that list is just sitting on the sidelines.

This places us at a grand total of 173 participants at the starting gun of the TZC! Heck yeah!! Let's get those beasts purring and fold us some PROTEINS!

Ok, so, technically, for me, the first zero point pull will occur at 12:25am, because Stanford posts the new flat files for outside stats services at 25 minutes past the hour, but yes the points that are generated at midnight, when we transition into the 1st of November, as determined by Eastern Daylight Time will be the starting point of the contest.

So, just a hair under 13 hours from now, I'll set the zero calculation points and head to bed to see how the numbers are adding up in the morning over coffee.

I won't be twisting drougnor's arm to add any more participants (it does make me smile to see an old timer like BadBertie getting back into the mix for the contest).  Though he is incredibly generous with his time and efforts for providing these stats, he is quite busy these days and we have to be respectful of that.

  • This year we will continue to track the traditional teams progress as we have in the past EvCvMvPvO, though the main event will a combined race Eastern and Mounatain v Central, Pacific and Other
    • Syberius81 (who lives in ETZ but is currently deployed abroad) has been moved to the Eastern Time Zone
    • Estimated PPD EM: 53,595,423
    • Estimated PPD CPO: 52,979,001
    • While these are only estimated predictions and unforeseen events and contingencies will inevitably arise (as the do every contest) it is projecting to be a very close race!
  • The new finish line target for the combined teams is 600 million points!
  • We've set a challenge to fold 5 billion points as a team in the month of November!  This would be a tremendous milestone to reach for the first time as well as a large 67% growth over our target of 3 billion points last year!
  • Throughout the contest donations of both individual prizes and the Pascal GPU donor pool will continue to be accepted until the prize distribution process has begun.  This team has a history of incredible generosity and this year is no exception!!  I am somehow always amazed by the new heights of generosity of this team reaches as well as the things it can accomplish together!  If you've got some unused hardware, games etc to give away or a few dollars to spare we're happy to accept any contribution!
  • The contest kicks off at 12:00 AM Eastern Time - that is any points contributed after 12:00 AM for all contestants will be counted toward the contest.
    • The stats may or may not be up and running until the following morning (depending on whether drougnor or I are able to zero them out at 12:30 AM local time) but all points will be counted from the starting point..
  • You're more than welcome (and perhaps even encouraged) to have a bit of good-natured fun at each other's expense, but keep in mind that at the end of the day this is only a contest and we're all on the same team: folding to cure some horrible diseases.
  • Fire up those rigs and churn out those WUs - may the best team win!

Don't forget that any points from Switzerland will have to pass through US Customs and Border Protection before entering the country and given how long that can take I'd say you're already behind!

Installed Ubuntu today, hopefully my Folding will run uninterrupted now. (No forced updates!)

You can stop those win10 auto updates and restarts.
You can set win10 to notify you that there are updates available and ready to download, without it doing it auto.
Set you computer as if it were on a metered internet connection, even with an Ethernet connection.
Try this, it worked well for me.

What is the estimated time for us to reach the end of the contest? Curious how many days does everyone predict this will take?
