I am totally not at all ashamed to admit that I chose the video card first then the mug. Because both are awesome and both use much less electricity than the GTX 970 in my media server . . .

I put the mug last. If there are short options, I'll replace the mug with a shirt. I use a 32/40oz cup at home as I drink plenty of water. Who wants to interrupt gaming or a movie for a water run. I love my t-shirt and lanyard combo I got last year. Totally not ashamed of picking the video cards first. My power bill on the folding/crunching side could use a break. Now, if someone puts in a hybrid kit as a prize and I'd put that up top in a heartbeat. Swapping my card order around made me realize how much performance hit I am taking with the higher temps.

I'm not ashamed of putting the video cards on top also.  IF I'm fortunate enough to get one, I'm hoping I can pony up the difference and make it to a hybrid...

Just out of curiosity, how is the New GPU distribution process being handled?

I assume that Dutchforce will purchase the gpus on the winners behalf and simply substitute shipping addresses. Since we sent him the monies via PayPal.

That seems reasonable and logical.

Now I feel guilty being offered gifts when I didn't provide any! Will make sure to have something for next year if the TZC continues.

Same here  - I have plenty of cards and equipment, but no Pascal. I put in for the 4p then the card. But if I get a mug it's all good. I'm amped that there was this much interest this year and more than one card going out to the participants!!

Same here, should I be fortunate enough to receive a 1070, Black or otherwise, it shall be used for folding as much as my wallet allows.
I may even step up to a 1080 (ti?)

Will one 1080Ti be more powerful than two 1070s?

1 titan is equal to two 1070's so i would assume that a 1080ti will be about 80-90% of that.

no need to feel guilty.  Everyone offered what they can.  If you dont have parts, you can always donate to the GPU pool.  Any little amount is fine.  If you can't donate anything, at least take comfort in knowing you donated 10+ days of folding time to a good cause ^_^.   The prizes are just a nice perk of the competition.   My entire forum interaction started because of this competition, so no complaints here whether I get something or not.

The advance info that I looked up seemed to indicate closer to 90% of Titan power at a much more attractive price point. Sort of like, why should I buy a Titan again? However, the "information" was speculation as far as pricing.

The consensus seems to be in on the mugs. If there's any extra GPU pool money, perhaps more mugs could be ordered?
An idea for next year: GPU pool for donations, and an option to purchase a mug? mug donation pool? maybe a double sized mug with more real estate for awesome design work?

Wouldn't it be a nice reminder to yourself with every cup of Java, or Earl Grey, hot? Hey maybe I'm ok; I'm involved in this race for the cure. Everyone needs a little positive feedback.

well waiting another year will not give you a much better next gen GPU as they are planning a rehash for the next series of GPU's. so in 2 years time and a new architecture is when i'll be shelling out for new GPU's, after 1080ti's that is.
