I posted a call to arms in the folding section to see if we can get some reinforcements of our own. Since we only have CPU-only projects remaining, this should not interfere with the folding in support of wrinvert.

I wil try to help but my GPUs are working for wrinter so I only have a couple of slow CPUs, it's O.k. if I use them on Rosetta or there is a better project ? Sorry but I'm a total crounching noob.

kawika57 Olddanit welcome!! 3 days left on http://csgrid.org/csg/ and two on http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/. We are concentrating on these two projects. Again welcome and thanks for the help. all available projects are cpu only.
Thanks for the help Olddanit!! And anyone else that jumps in to help us to the finish line. All CPU - 3 Days!!

I think there's only one active project, so you don't really get to choose... Gaah, Mr. B beat me to the punch!

Definitely, AnandTech is only 110K points behind us with 2 days to go, and they outproduced us by 100K in the last 12 hours. and Rosetta
Also agreed, we are close behind AnandTech there, and gaining over the last 12 hours.

I just checked my systems, for some reason I had no Rosetta tasks. So they were sitting idle. Added Universe and now they are crunching again.

I have 7 PC boxes running Rosetta. One is a 4770k and another is a 3770. The rest are I5 and I3s. Please advise me on how to proceed. All Rosetta, well then i am set - If you need me to shift some to Universe - let me know. robby

Due to a misunderstanding of the tie-breaking rule, the strategy that Mr. B and I came up with won't work. We would have been in a good position if we had caught back up in Swimming, but we fell 3000 points short at the final update. Since AnandTech has higher results than us in 3 disciplines, they win the tie-breaker for 13th. They have a huge amount of momentum (basically work waiting for validation) in Universe, since they have outproduced us by nearly double for a while, so it's highly unlikely we could catch back up. If we put all our systems to work on Universe, they would easily pass us in CSG. Therefore, I don't have any good ideas on what to focus on for the last 23 hours. We could put all our resources on CSG and hope to maintain a tie in total points with AnandTech, but they would still win the tiebreaker. The best I can come up with is to go all in on CSG to maintain our position and points there in order to hold off [H] who could come from behind in the last day. If someone else can come up with an alternate scenario that works, please post it here.

That being said I will put everything on CSG. I will dump some work units in the AM est but I am now switching out Universe for CSG. No consolation but I think this pentathlon was poorly run. Just my opinion. I thank all that have participated and PUNCHY for trying to create a strategy for us. We are still one of the best teams in the league!! rs

Interesting, we are staying much closer in Universe than in CSG. This may be because AnandTech has one guy claiming to have 214 cores running CSG. Of course, that could all be pure misdirection, and secret bunkering could throw everything off, but if anyone has some resources to throw at Universe, we might have a chance of taking our spot back.

Well I wasted the last 24 hour waiting for CSG and gave up went back over to Universe@Home for the last 18 hours.

Yep, you got your spot back. I have 214 thread/cores, actually. Would be an even 250 threads if I had vid cards installed in 3 of the workstations and could get into the BIOS to enable HT. I just wanted to drop in and pay my respects, you have all put up one heck of a fight!!! And it's going to be very very close indeed! No misdirection: We (AnandTech) can't catch the UK team on CSG, and I don't think you can catch us on CSG in such a short timespan (unless you've got some sneaky bunkering going on!) so I'm all in on Universe now since you're hammering us there at the moment. Thanks for making it beyond interesting! See you in the PrimeGrid battle coming up in about 2 days?

Thanks Tony, I don't remember any race where we had such close competition on 3 different fronts! You just barely held us off at the last minute in Rosetta - kudos to you and your team. Now be nice and switch back to CSG so we can take the spot in Universe and keep the teams below us from catching up. You'll win on the tiebreaker unless we catch you in both CSG and Universe, which seems unlikely. And, how in the world do you keep that room from overheating?

Much respect to you too! I think nobody around here was doubting your number of cores/threads, just that they were purely running csg. Doesn´t make much sense shooting for some underclockers when you have the 6 point battles right there. And who knows, maybe we do have some sneaky bunker

I didn't close my windows/turn off the window fans until mid-January. lol But the best answer to how I keep the house cool is that when my new HVAC was installed last year, I told them I had internal heat sources during the summer and insisted the next larger size heat pump. The black case/red fan and the yellow one are my pride and joy, the twins, Xeon e5-2695-v3@2.7GHz (turbo), (14 cores/28 threads each), and they are my 'normal' crunchers. I had to fire up the rest of the fleet to hold you guys off! All the Dell's were supposed to have been sold months ago....but I'm lazy. You know, I honestly just examined your stats, while considering your plea. Eh, you'll be okay, no one's gonna overtake you (bunkering excluded of course). Definitely would have helped you out though if BOINCStats was a threat...they beat us last year and I haven't forgiven them yet. EDIT: Looks like I'm only going to be able to finish another 160 Universe before the end of the race, of which maybe half will get validated immediately. Whew, then the AC might be able to turn off for the first time in days. Good luck guys!
