I'm not going to mess with it. The cost of the extra electricity vs the ppd output of a 680 isn't worth it especially when I'm already Folding on a pair of 980s.

My GTX 660Ti can do around 70,000 PPD so I would think a GTX 680 could do a little better.
Remember these older Kelper cards have to use the older drivers. The new drivers kill the PPD on these GPU
327.23 if I remember right is the driver number.

Actually, the driver issue was fixed quite some time ago.  I'm using the latest drivers on a GTX660Ti FTW+ and still cranking out 70K PPD.

Crystal: Intel i7 930 3.6GHz(OC) / EVGA X58 758 / 3x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / GTX 660Ti FTW+ / 2x GTX 560Ti SLI
Quartz (mothball): Intel i7 2600k 3.8GHz / EVGA Z77 Stinger mITX / 2x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / GTX 660Ti SC
Mercury: Intel i5 3570k 4.2GHz(OC) / ASRock Z68 mITX / 1x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / 2x GTX 1660 Super
Cobalt: Intel i7 4710HQ 2.5Ghz / ASUS GL551JM-DH71 / 2 x 8GB / GTX 860m - Gaming/Physics/Astronomy Laptop

The 980s are so efficient in comparison your money ahead ppd verses power consumption.
Looks as if the repairman will show tomorrow to see if they can fix my AC sure hope so having folding withdrawals.

I've been having Folding withdrawals so bad I already configured my BIOS to run off the Intel graphics and I'm going to Fold all night on my video boards. I can't wait for this challenge to start.

For the record pci lanes do not matter for folding. I have 4 cards on x1 risers with no noticeable ppd loss(other than a bit of bottle neck from the aging q9550 when all 4 cards are running). I made an open air rack out of some scrap 1x2 pine and a scrap of plywood to put 4 cards on a 780i(3 x16 slots and 1 x1 slot) mobo. Ran it all last winter with no problems other than killing a psu.

  1. Wake up
  2. grab coffee
  3. sit down to check test stats
  4. sip coffee
  5. see major error
  6. sip more coffee
  7. dig into error and realize Google has broken cheap workaround I've used for years
  8. swear a LOT
  9. swill coffee, swearing like a gurgling sailor
  10. hit the research with a vengance
  11. find usable Google script workaround
  12. realize I need to bolt to work or be VERY late
  13. cruise to work, grab more coffee, dig into Google script code
  14. cobble together test - implement
  15. wait. get good looking results. change data. wait again. still looking good...
So, how was YOUR morning?

My morning was about the same though I'm only halfway through my first pot of coffee. I've been letting my video boards Fold all night running my display off of the Intel onboard graphics. My ppd is back to normal again. I only had one instance of corruption or inconsistency with the data found all night and it only had to go back to a known good point that only added 5 minutes to the WU. The only game I've been playing lately is Fallout 3 so my next hurdle is to see if I can play it without problems on the Intel graphics.

Ah yes, it feels so good too. Now I can't stop because I want to catch up to this guy or that guy and flex my GPU Folding muscles to finally give these video boards a true workout. And the warm air being scattered across my counter top from the bottom GPU radiator feels soooo good. My mouse hand benefits the most and it is feeling nimble and loved by the warm air embracing it. LOL
I ordered two more Noctua NF-F12 fans yesterday for the bottom rad for a push-pull config on the video board loop. I'm going to have to remove the lower drive cage to have access to the fan mounting screws so it might be a bit more complicated than it sounds. I had to raise my case up using 2x4 blocks but the front one blocks some airflow. Ordering a package of 2" square bloaks from Amazon is too costly for me even if it's only $18 for a bag of ten. I only have a hacksaw to trim the front block down so this could get interesting.

Can't help you with the old servers but having a 24 hour Internet outage didn't help things any here

I don't know if it's related to servers specifically, but I know I have a few SMP boxes that no longer have a constant flow of work - they're trickling in one or two at a time, but I haven't had all of those machines folding at once in a GOOD long time

Shifttfreeride
A quick look at the figures from those that have signed up already show that Central is set to almost produce as many points as all other groups combined --

Central - 11,710,000
Eastern - 6,055,000
Mountain - 4,710,000
Pacific - 1,305,000
Other - 1,020,000

If it doesn't even out by the time the contest is ready to get underway, feel free to remove me or place me in my own category to make the contest more fair for everyone.

LOL   Well I just added something for pacific as we sure need the extra help "rollseyes"

Well, you can count me out and take me off the registration list if you think I'm going to be Folding for 250 days straight waiting for Pacific or Other time zone to reach 250 million points. Either that or lower your expectations.

I think Troy is trying something new this year, it won't take that long.
That being said, anyone else having issues with project 11400-11403?
They keep failing and or taking way too long.

Can it be setup so the winning team gets moved over to the next highest points team until they reach 250 million points?
Then move the two teams to the next highest on down the line until all teams have completed the 250 million points?
This would get all the teams to the goal a lot faster and in the same order of completion.
Thoughts?

I have run into the hiccup that I am not going to be able to remotely start my PC on the 1st.  What I am going to do it set it to fold, and leave it running while I am gone.. I will have someone occasionally come check to make sure the system is dead, and leave it running until I get back at the end of November.  Wish me luck, as I have no idea how it will react.

The problem with that is it pretty much makes it impossible for teams to switch places after the first team reaches 250 mil, so if say teams 2 and 3 are apart by only 1 point team two will come in second and team 3 won't stand a chance.

I think if the problem is that the number is too high, then lower it, simple as that. that said, we may need to re-add up the totals again for the more recent sign ups, and we still have 9 or so days left for people to sign up, making the 250 mil goal a bit more viable that it currently looks.

Current sign up totals as of this post and my math:
Eastern:  9,355,000
Central    12,970,000
Mountain 5,130,000
Pacific     2,025,000

After yesterday's initial panic, I've implemented and am so far QUITE happy with a new method for getting my hourly stats into the Google spreadsheets we use.  It has cleaned up a few issues that Troy and I had to manually correct for from time to time and now I'm kicking myself in the pants for not investigating this route earlier. *laughs* Live and learn, I guess.

On that note, I'll keep an eye on things and work with Troy on the back end of things and will check in from time to time.

Keep up the recruitment, folks! I want MOAR PARTICIPANTS!!
