That's what I was asking, do you put it in slot config or client config?

.... I don't have a pc within 3,000 miles to look at. If it is normally typed beta, type advanced instead of beta. If you normally type client-type, leave it alone. I can't help past that. You are only changing one word.

If you already have beta set up, simply delete the word beta and type advanced and save it.

Stanford has a walk through here:

https://folding.stanford....e/configuration-guide/

Then hit Ok. Nothing changes but the word beta.

Ok, I never use the expert tab, so I had no idea how it could be confusing, lol.

Just go into config, and simply change the word beta to advanced. It's really that simple. Once the units are fijished, they will pull advanced units rather than beta.

I had to remove the entry and add it again as client-type advanced. Just changing the word from beta to advanced didn't work for me. I tried it, saved, and when I went back to double-check it was back to beta.
Stanford scrapped that last Core x21 I was running. It found corruption or bad results at 25% and reset back to 13% and ran fine until it reached 87%. I only had twenty minutes to completion when it was classified as a bad WU and terminated. Stanford still uploaded the results if I am reading the log file correctly.
Don't get me wrong because I'm not a scientist but I will try and explain my thoughts as best as possible. When we're folding these proteins aren't we simulating how cells reproduce themselves? It is my understanding that cancer starts when a cell fails to accurately reproduce itself caused by a damaged strand of DNA and becomes an abnormal cell that continues to reproduce itself at an alarming rate. Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe this corrupted data we're finding is where cancer starts. Shouldn't Stanford be studying where and why this bad data starts?

So, I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone that knows nothing about computers.. we fully reset the pc to stock settings, uninstalled FAH, reinstalled FAH, set the advanced work units and verified everything was good.

Hopefully the computer stops locking up.

It was weird.. when my buddy hard stopped it, then restarted, it said overclocking failed... but, it was already set to stock, so I hope the cpu isn't failing. If it is, I have the tuning plan on it, so it won't be a bad thing.

Great.. after getting my buddy to set everything up.. my points are going to default... fantastic.. I absolutely hate being away from home during these times where an event is going on... they are never timed in my favor.

http://fah-web2.stanford....;username=Scarlet-Tech

Whelp, at this rate, I am out of the event.. I am not going to waste 2 to 3 hours of peoples time every few days dealing with this. If it isn't fixed after the next try, I am going to have them shut the pc down and not restart it. No point in running up a $300 electrical bill for nothing.

ST sorry to hear about your problems sure would be nice to have you in on this challenge.
Have you thought about setting up team viewer with you cell phone a friend of mine did and he works wonders no matter where he is.
Wish one of us old folding salts were closer to your rig so we could help out.

OK, I just successfully completed and uploaded my first Core x21 WU using client-type advanced. No errors at all for the complete run. Another Core x21 just downloaded and I don't expect any more problems since changing from client-type beta. Just thought I'd let all of you know.

What I've noticed running on Intel graphics is sometimes only one core is active at times. Other times all cores are at around 50% usage using MSI Afterburner. I know I need at least one core for the Desktop but is there any way to dedicate one of the other cores for each video board?

Differently going to have my gtx 980 running. However of course my CPU cooler is starting to give me some grief so not sure whats going to happen there. For some reason when the cpu is under high load the cooler just stops functioning and the temps rocket up past 85*C. Don't know whats causing it yet but so far its only done it twice, I have already re-seated the CPU and cooler with new paste.

Coolers an Antec kuhler 950 if any has heard of this before. If I need to warranty it i don't have a spare cooler on hand.

Thank you but I rooted around in my pile of stuff and found a double pump so installed it.
To the rescue paper towels, data vac duster, QD Electronic Cleaner and data vac again.
Have it back up and folding for now hope I got all the water cleaned up that slashed on the top GUP.

Make sure your passkey is also set.
And as Guns suggested, TeamViewer is a viable option. If you don't want to operate it from your phone you can have a trusted member here handle stuff for you.

This is what I was trying to explain earlier in case anybody was paying attention: http://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/cell-division-and-cancer-14046590
Try to keep in mind that it has been well over 40 years since I studied cell division in Biology when I was in high school. Thank you.

Passkey is working, as I am getting credit toward default right now, but I forgot to tell him about the team number so that it goes to EVGA FAH

I am staying put unless one of the organizers wants to shift me elsewhere. I registered according to my residence and I think it should stay this way until one team wins. After that we can be redistributed to even out the teams just so we can finish some time before 2016 starts.
