it's just some bad luck...
this build has been the build from hell
everything going wrong
the previous builds I had up and running the same day I got the parts
the tech company will probably refuse to deal with it
RMA will probably cost as much as the new board or at least 1/2
(since the socket is not covered)
So I just went and bought a new board (on back order)

2/12/13 - Prepare to unleash the M@Dness! Contest registration is now officially open. You can sign up for the contest here.
- Please note the changes in the contest points system here. Cliffs Notes version:
- You can report whatever points production you want. This will be your base point for calculating contest points.
- If you under-report production too much, you will not maximize your potential contribution to your team.
- If you over-report production too much, you will not maximize your potential contribution to your team.
- Your contest points are determined by number of points you report, which will be your base points.
- The amount of points you can produce over your estimate depends on: your base point value, the production of other contestants (if everyone is overproducing more, you will be allowed to do so as well), and the performance of your team (in the event of disaster, you can make up for lost team production).
- You will never lose contest points for producing more folding points. In fact, you will always gain additional contest points for any additional folding production. You may, however, not receive full contest points for folding points beyond a threshold (this threshold is determined by the relative performance of everyone else).
- Most importantly, you can put whatever number you want for your base points.
- No matter what you report, you always have incentive to fold as much as possible.
- After all the complaints last year, I was hoping that more people would provide feedback on the points system. Last year's system was a work-in-progress and was announced as such, and prone to a few hiccups. A lot of thought has gone into this year's system and I am finally comfortable with the implementation.
- Folding teams that have committed to returning this year so for:
- Crunching Tigers/Folding Dragons
- F@holding Pimps
- Fast and Furious Folders
- Protein Prophets
- Mad's Maniacs/Ins@nity F@Holders
- We need need a additional members willing to captain a folding team.
- The Maniacs and Ins@nity F@Holders are combining forces into one team, we are looking for at least one new team this year.
- Due to time constraints, tanner2 is unable to run the Fanatical Folders this year (but will still be participating). It would be great if someone would step up and fill in to keep one of the original teams in the competition this year!
- rjbelans has not let me know if the FAHaholics will be returning this year.

I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag.... *looks at XZ* Meow ....After some discussion Mad and I have decided to team up, so you won't find the Maniacs or the Insanity Folders, no... Shy: She's a lil bit insane Mad: He's a lil bit of a maniac Together they are Insaniacs! Mad and I will Captain equally , granted he is fully back online and can register in time, If he can't then he'll be my wingman and encourage the team and help me out how he can. Why meow at XZ you wonder, well he does call me catwoman and Mad the Joker.

I've noticed rjbelans sometimes waits til the last minute, but there is no guarantee that is the case. As of now, there are no FAHaholics in the contest this year. Would you, or another FAHaholic (or anyone that wants to be a FAHaholic) like to step up if we don't hear from him?

Can you register with out putting a guestimate on ppd? Not sure what I would produce yet. Just got my rig running stable after some changes a month or two ago and been playing games more then folding.

I signed up I put 85,000 for my base points even though I currently have 110K 24h avg because thier is no garantee that the Project 76xx GPU units will last during the contest and I don't want to under produce.

Escobar, if you wanted there is time before the contest to fold solidly for a day (or so) to see what you produce. Or if not solidly ,what you think you would be able to fold timewise. A lot depends on the WU you get as well.

Yup trying to do that now. I need to put together this other rig again and see if I can get the 450 to fold or not. Last time I ran it it was failing wu's constantly. Not sure why. I will probably get up some folding time tonight on my main rig and maybe tomorrow do an install on the other. Right now it is all put together just missing the hard drive which is no big deal. Going to find a drive I can use for this hopefully that is sata. If not I think I have plenty of older IDE drives around.

I for sure have 1 3930k and 2 keplers and 1 fermi running
now do I have a 3rd kepler and a 2nd 3930k up and running in time?

I'm signed up and ready! Just hours after receiving EVGA GPU cross-ship and stress testing it since - yay, no EUEs at up to 89ºC! (always has been a problem @ temps that high for GTX 460v2's I've run) It feels like quite a lucky day today; what lottery can I play the numbers 6-7-6-20? What can you do with several pieces of scrap aluminum, access to a metal worker and some free time?

Mad and I teaming up was a mutual decision. We discussed it thoroughly and decided as I said to start fresh. Previous Madness contests have been a bit of a jinx for us for one reason or other, I won't go into detail, each our competitiveness had us arguing to a point. So this time around we decided to put our competitiveness together and join forces. As it stands currently I'm Captain and Madrias is my Wingman, Much like when I was the Maniacs cheerleader back in 2011 Madness, But Mad with pom poms really I don't think so we would all be too busy lol-ing (sorry Mad) to get any folding done, So if Madrias doesn't have full internet (not borrowed like currently) back by the time the contest begins he's my Wingman, if he does have full internet back and gets to sign up in time we will be Equal Captains and the team Co-captains as we all help each other, teamwork. Wingman or Captain, either way he's got quite the heckles and pranks in mind... I hope you all like explosions and an interesting adaptation to a Roomba    ... It cleans as it destroys.

Let me define: A wingman (or wingmate) is a pilot who supports another. The wingman's role is to add an element of mutual support to aerial combat. The presence of a wingman makes the flight both offensively and defensively more capable by increasing firepower and situational awareness, permits the attacking of enemies, and increases the ability to employ more dynamic tactics. That's the kind of wingman we mean.

Dam just checked my folding numbers for overnight and man I am a bit disappointed. I knew my numbers wouldn't be huge but only 1,142 points sucks. I folded on my 660 and my i5-2550k from like 10pm - 10am.
