don't know...haven't had word from OCN
so far we have some OCF ,HWC, [H] Members that wanted to sign on-- but stopped when EVGA forum name was required
(troy just has to change it to user name only)
preliminary just a trickle right now
troy said we might delay it if there is real interest
we have 1 OCF signed up already

I don't think bringing in other teams would be feasible logistically without delaying the start of the contest at least a week. It wouldn't be fair to those if they've been working on getting prepared for the contest, but if people are in favor inviting other teams to join us and don't mind pushing the start back a week then we might be able to pull it off.

i think if we are going to have other teams invited into the TMZ,then let us have the evga TMZ from nov15th to nov 30th,then have another tmz for all teams after it.then they could be in a prize pool also.
i just do not like the idea of a team entering the TMZ and not be able to win a prize,the whole idea of the TMZ is to get more people folding,we can not say you can enter but can not win.
if we do 2 different TMZ i can put another $25.00 gift thru paypal
just my 2 cents worth,but i welcome all teams to the challenge.

Looking at some of my existing code, it should be pretty simple for me to track this, actually, so adding extra people in from other teams won't be all that difficult at all. (Translation - I did a solution that handles just this kind of situation for the last Chimp Challenge - The ONLY issue will be google's limitations, but I can run multiple google pages if needed.) There's only once challenge that will end up being procedural (how to split the stats if we pass Google's limits).

I'm OK with delaying the start if we do see enough interest from other teams, but I also agree with going with the original date if that interest just doesn't develop for this years TZC. If we delay the start such that it runs largely through the Thanksgiving holidays, that could be an issue for some...it would be for me. Gotta give recognition to XZ for getting out to just about every Folding team and trying to build some interest. We should come together and do stuff like this where "Folding team rivalry" is not a factor and something simple like Time Zones are our teams. I like that idea a lot and it brings us together without the issues and stigma that often surfaces with Chimp Challenge. I'll go along with whatever the herd wants to do.

we could still go with original start date and extend(a few days - like 2) signup too
(just that drougnor can only put in the stats for anyone new once per day like 24hrs apart)
seeing that's it's a trickle coming in Id go for that

I don't see anyway this doesn't run thru Thanksgiving Holiday.. I'm all for opening up the Challenge to anyone to include additional teams. Given these two conditions: - We stick with one team per time zone
- Keep the prize pool to EVGA folders in fairness to the donors
Will everyone have to have a EVGA Forum Account / Name ? I assume everyone will go thru website registration?

troy will take the other teams user names ETC only needed that for donations and prize awarding anyways prizes will be awarded to EVGA members only - folding for EVGA I already suggested we work on separate(for each team) and one common pool next year if they want to post to the time zone threads they do have to have an account here Chat is open to all I believe we got started so late on this that I think we are only going to get a trickle from other teams

I don't have a problem with a delay to let others join in, gives me a few more days to polish up a solution for the additional teams. Think I've got what I'm going to do sorted, but it's just a matter of practicing it for a few hours to make sure the technique is sound.

11/15/2012 - The 2012 Time Zone Challenge is underway! Stats should start posting the next update.
- Thanks again to drougnor for providing us hourly stats directly from Stanford!
- I am not sure that everyone is in the stats system yet, I am waiting to hear from drougnor.
- Not everything is finished yet. The team graph and hourly team stats have not been updated to the 2012 stats yet. There are a few additional things planned as well that I hopefully can get to tomorrow evening.
- Last year people indicated they wouldn't mind ads on the site with the revenue generated being donated to the prize pool (note: it will have to be more than $100 in revenue to be able to withdraw it). I threw a few ads on the bottom of most of the pages, but if people find them too annoying I can easily remove them.

I'd say anything is possible when QRB GPU WUs come into play. Pretty much everyone reported PPD not taking that into account.
