I don't know how to do this in ubuntu 11.04

In my copy of Ubuntu 11.04 it is:
- Click on "Applications"
- Select "Accessories"
- Select "Take Screenshot" app.
- The app opens and I find it better to use the "Select area to grab" option for the screenshot.

If you are running the Console client as I do for Folding, then grab a screen-shot of the Terminal window for the running WU.  That will show WU progress percentage and in my mind would be proof.  Hope this helps...

Thanks tex, yu da ape

Re:2012 Official Chimp Challenge Announcements 2012/05/17 22:18:10 (permalink)
this team could pull it off

1. we have the raw output to outdo [H] if 100 % is given  as we saw in our push for 800M

2. the team is large - we need a large leadtime to get out users and inform them

evga tried to help us with banners and email this year

3. evga buck folders -
some just fold for $$$
some are folders for other teams too

not an excuse - just reality - we have to make do in spite of that

4. conversion - getting the message out to get people to switch over - not easy

if we could just meet last year conversion we be doing way better - but we are down from that - that alone could wipe out most of the deficit

Im in it regardless if we pull in last...

but I don't want to here people complain this year if we do bad

just have fun - pull in new users and see if we can get the team pumped and re-charge our team spirit
ie - lets get focused like [H] and get our spirit back

So 75% of the teams points are not signed up for the CC?
That's pathetic!

75% of the team never reads the forums. Most of the teams are not on a business web site and most likely any or most Mods can do a mass email if not there admins. fold so they can. That makes it so much easyer to get the masses out . We grow daily as more see the CC is up and running.I just looked at http://folding.extremeove...st.php?s=&t=111065
And went YAHOO tell i seen even evgapes had no daily points. That had me thinking every one changed over.
To bad its not true

more like 60% not signed up/folding for the apes - conversion is 40%

last year we we're almost 60% and that was down because people thought that process and formula really stunk

if we just met 60% we be in 2nd or 3rd
I don't count the team out from doing that or surpassing that...  provided we get the message out and get the team fired up

at least if we can't win ..we could at least show our hairy ape butts in the IRC channel and moon the other teams
give them something to look at

Next year, the key will be to recruit early and recruit hard. Even if we don't know if there WILL be a CC, at least get the ball rolling.  We can put the recruitment to use with another contest if it comes down to it.

We had the misfortune of not knowing the contest was going to even happen until the end and 'planned' accordingly.

All said, Fold ON!!

The fact that the largest Team in the CC Challenge is running 5th is a testament to the re-worked CC win-parameters.  I see that as a good thing because all teams have a chance at winning CC.  It just depends upon the dynamics of the Team and our ability to come through on the specific areas of measurement.  Where we are today (in CC) is not a bad thing in my mind, just the result of our particular abilities in those areas.  If we want to win CC, then we have some work to do in those areas.  I'm still very proud of this Team and the company with whom we are associated (EVGA).  The worst thing we can do for our Team is to take any of this stuff negatively.  It is a contest for fun, not the full measure of our Team which is so much more!  Go you Apes!!!

Re:2012 Official Chimp Challenge Announcements 2012/05/18 11:14:45 (permalink)
Amidst the breakdown turmoil goin on my main folding rig, I wasn't in any shape to contribute some WUs.
First, I thought my CPU burned to death so I bought a mobile replacement.

That wouldn't resuscitate it so I swapped in a another PSU and yay, that worked.  Turns out 17 months of 24/7 folding, loading my strongest & newest power supply to only ~40% capacity killed it.  I'm afraid to do an autopsy on it (as should most people), but I'd like to believe its smoky failure was not in vain.

I'm running the GPU on a Tt power supply unit that's been in service since 2004 and powered distributed computing client (read full load) for 6 years!  Sure it sounds healthy now, but let's see how long it stands up to the its predecessor's torture. I've (carefully) refurbished it so no flames, or shorts expected in the near future.

So, I'm back in the folding game to help propel heavy  EVGApes beyond the stratosphere!  And if an emergency hot swap might mean touching a 70°C fansink without gloves, so be it!

ps. Hmm- 25W mobile CPU and I have a 125W+ rated desktop HSF on hand.  That gives me some overclocking inspiration...

What can you do with several pieces of scrap aluminum, access to a metal worker and some free time?

+1.

The  contest is not about who can fold the most points, because if it were it wouldn't be much of a contest.  The only competition would be between EVGA and OCN, but only because [H] is not participating.  The smaller teams would not stand a chance.

The point system being used takes a variety of different metrics into account measuring different aspects of contest participation.  We did not have great organization this year and little effort was put toward recruitment.  As such, we should not expect to do well in categories that measure that.  We cannot blame the fairness of the contest this year.

What we can do is focus on our strength's this year (total point production) and excel at that.  And of course, we are still competing with ourselves to top what we did last year...

I was hoping for a better turnout, and outcome. Of course the challenge is not over. As Texinga stated I'm proud to be part of our team ,no matter the result. There is still a lot of science being done from all the participants. That's what this contest represents to me. Keep em coming Team EVGA!!!!

You can add about another 230k to the team. there starting to get settled in once again after the configs & restarts.
Say hello to my little friends... mahahaha
Edit:  I keep forgetting I have another 4 running so that's about another 15k there. ;-)
They are laptops so they don't produce as much as these desktops.
