Someone at EVGA should be issuing press releases to all major news networks notifying them of this activity. (They have no way of knowing unless you alert them.)

Bad news, guys. I don't know why, but the code I used last year for the CC History is now failing. I'm going to TRY to find the time to fix it, but I don't think it's going to happen.  I'll let you know if I do make a breakthrough.

That's a good idea, but to get national coverage would probably require more money than EVGA is willing to give out just for a folding contest.

This will not cost anyone a single penny, just the time to compose and destribute the release electronically or through postal mail (will gain more attention) are the only expenses.
 
You would be right about the money if this were advertising but this is not, it is a non profit community effort (2012 OCC) of people donating time and computer resources to solve some of the world most significant medical mysteries by collectively creating the worlds largest computing resource dedicated to the Folding project. 
 
Option 1.
It is fine to mention EVGA and any other known organizations which are promoting the assembly of people and provisioning platforms through which they can participate in the Folding Challenge.  Inform news outlets what Folding is and how it is done, describe the potential of Folding and the impact it will have on society around the world as discoveries are understood. You may also want to provide them with several forums where they and their audience can monitor the progress of the people involved in the 2012 Official Chimp Challenge along with a contact for the World Folding at Home organization. Keep the release short and to the point, the potential they may run a story is greater than you may think.
 
Option 2.
Write up a press release and submit it to the people at Folding @ Home with a request they make any changes they desire. They can forward the release or send an approved copy that you can send to all major local news outlets accross the nation and all National News Networks.
 
These were the exact same things we did with our Amateur Radio orginizations to help promote interest in the hobby and increase the ranks of F.C.C. Licensed Amateur Radio Operators. Both the coverage of disaster assistance and numbers of people getting involved with Disaster Services via Amateur Radio climbed significantly.
 
EVGA has someone on staff who is familiar with writing Press Releases and I believe they would be open to help develop a Press release of this nature if ask. Folding is a great cause which has enormous potential to help mankind through advances in medical science and computational analysis. Much of the description, history, and purpose of Folding @ Home could be taken from the first few paragraphs at this site, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folding@home or directly from the Stanford University web page.
