FYI:  I was going to have the teams up tonight, but due to the large number of people revising their output, I am going to delay it until tomorrow for anyone else that needs to make a last minute adjustment.

 I think the team I am on is new for this year. Maybe you can get lucky aon help us out. It would be nice to get a win as co-captain my first time out.

My i7 quadcore mobo died :(  BUT it was replaced with a phenom x6.  My average at EOC still says 13,900 but in the last 24hr i dropped 24,200.  I think I should update my PPD to 22,000 to not be on the reduced point system for doubling what I said I could do.

The USB 3.0 controller on my Z68 FTW board was DOA.  I just got the RMA board and installed it last night.  My PPD may be low over the next day or two as I get back up to speed, but I should be good to go soon.
 
The PPD I listed, 75K, is kind of the minimum I should be able to pull off.  My GTX 285 cards refuse to fold 353 point WU's (always have, regardless of drivers, clocks, etc.).  If we run into days with lots of 587 point WU's on GPU2, I can do 95K to 100K.  If we run into days with lots of 353 point WU's on GPU2, I am out 20K or so and down to 75K-ish.
 
Should I list that 75K minimum?  My 100K maximum?  Split the difference?

In all seriousness, I feel for you.  I've had mobos, PSUs and a couple of vid cards bite the dust (luckily I was able to bake the cards into temporary usefulness).  And usually, within spitting distance of a contest.

I've blown my fair share of hardware up before and during contests.  PSUs, motherboards, Hard Drives, memory modules, I've had at least one of each fizzle.

I'm fairly lucky then I guess, I've only blown my old (ancient, like from back when BFG was still in business) BFG power supply from folding.  The puff of smoke was spectacular though.

What would be considered the maximum threshold? 10K? 25k? Cause like, I'm a on n off folder sooo.. my folding numbers are inconsistent. I want to pull off about 22k daily but what if I hit a few days at 25k-30k? Is that bad? x_X might make up the days when I'm not home though. shrugs*

 
just make a reasonable approximation - you have 10% leeway
 
if you estimate too low - and you produce more than (lets say 10% more) then you will receive full points for everything below that and partial for everything above that 10%
 
if you estimate high - and are much lower - then your team will have that gap to make up (for the shortfall)
 
teams will be evened out as close as last year (it not perfect tho)...
so the better you can estimate (and guess...it's a little of that too) the better it is for the team you are on
 
people break down and teammates make up production thru hardware tweaks and extra hardware
 
For instance my 3930k (SMP only) goes from  40k -50K - the other rig is 15k- 20k  -> 55-70K diff - I split the difference
 
 

I am wondering. I just installed new cooler, started overclocking etc. I know it's going to affect my points. Not sure how much though. I am still doing my stability test. Because of this I am not able to figure out my current PPD except from what I had before. So should I not worry about changing it?

A few people have been asking how teams are formed.  There are several mechanisms at work into this:

• Participants from last year are given priority to return to fold with the same team again this year. 
• Captains have the option to draft a few (2, at most 3) participants onto their team.
• The remainder of contestants are assigned at random in such a manner to create a team structure that is as competitive as possible.  Note: despite the best efforts of both contestants and contest organizer, the unpredictable nature of folding means that teams will not be perfectly balanced.

 
I know people are eager find out what team they are on and begin talkin trash and plotting their domination and I am just as eager as the rest of you...but as previously mentioned  this will be delayed til at least tomorrow and people continue to update and revise their numbers (particularly those impacted by HPCS).  So hang on for another day or two and we'll get this this contest started and kick off EVGA Folding Year 5 in style! 

If you haven't signed u there is still time.  At this point late entry is still permissible, though the window of opportunity is quickly closing so get at it! 

 
I've finished with my modifications I think now, its as accurate as its going to get, the graph should start to flatten out now.

• As for the start of the contest, I've decided that drougnor will have the privilege of determining the start time/date.  All the work he does to bring us hourly stats updates often goes overlooked, so take between now and the start of the contest to thank him for all his efforts by harassing him about when the contest is going to officially start.
