Exactly, it's really hard to position all of us in teams because we all have such unpredictable productions, and such different scales of production at that. Nonetheless I feel troy did a good job of positioning all of us as it really isn't easy!

Ahem...boys and girls I would still like Diplomacy' Cap issue resolved lets get rid of the posturing and let his points count for that to happen I have to have 1. a guarantee that there is no more issues with tagging people with sandbagging 2. that people don't quit or reduce because dips cap comes off I WANT THAT 800M TO FALL PS: what happened yesterday - we dropped 5M PPD

IMO either no caps or everyone gets capped. But, I don't know how to guarantee your items 1 & 2.

What else would you do with the large producers? They have to be sprinkled throughout the teams somehow? Or maybe next time we make it so that largescale producers aren't allowed to compete.
No, I don't want to discourage large producers, I'm looking for a way encourage both the large and small producers. Make it so the efforts of the small producer are just as important to the Team as the large producers.

Just curious but why is the points from diplomacy such a big deal? Is it because he has a huge folding farm or is he doing something else to gain a massive amount of points? I am confused as to why he has a cap set on him myself.

From where I sit, you are saying the same thing a lot of us are. However this contest is in full swing. So these "Tweaks" will most likely be for next time. That said... I propose this with your input in mind... Put all the small producers on one team. Let the large producers be their own team (Creating roughly 10-15 teams all together, with the same rules, must be your "Owned" equiptment). And race to the edge... MUHahahahaha

the cap was self set (by dip) after people complained he asked troy for it rather than everyone get up in arms again I ask team capts to allow his points than the second hub hub happened and fellow teammates threatened to drop production - rather than lose that production I kept the cap on and dip still folded regardless of the cap for the 800 goal We could remove it by asking troy - their would be no issue of that but I want everyone to fold (not complain about his production) and no one drop any production (for the 800) then the contest would feel like a family again rather 1 person being excluded out simple

Ok well my question was more so about how he was getting these points that were making people complain. Was it through his own equipment or through HPCS which was not mentioned when he signed up? I do recall a rule stating that you can use only your own equipment and if you are participating in HPCS or w.e you had to include this in when registering. I have no idea what this HPCS but it seems it out performs normal folding? Or was he using a cloud system or what ever that means? I remember someone in insanity mentioning this to be considered a hack at producing points or some crap. I uono.

honestly as far as HPCS goes it's EQUIPMENT YOU DON"T OWN (business server) YOU ONLY HAVE PERMISSION TO USE IT and you didn't pay for it (yes it was allowed - and I wasn't against it - however we knew issue might arise with it) it be different if you actually hired/paid for it - then it's yours because you PAID for it's use - no different than renting a home computer Using HPCS is no different that using corporate hardware with permission right now - once it goes public you have every right to consider it yours - and most wont have many because of costs (not to mention some may use business lappy's or business desktop work computers) Honestly take a person at his word I can't verify if he owns it or is using someone else hardware You can't verify mine... I can't verify yours so there is the crux of that problem accusing people based on suspicion/your gut is not enough we be at arms against everyone - like some were onto Werty if we didn't know HPCS was running same could go after some-one with a bunch of 4p rigs that signed up projecting 1 rig (and then brought the rest in when veryone ramped up) what about a small business man running a computer shop or have several machines or a big mainframe for his biz you can ask him yourself - I did, so did others he said he owns it - no way for me to know or verify

It is indeed! =D And XZ I wasn't accusing or anything was just simply asking why there is an issue with diplomacy and why he was set a cap by request. And I know we can only take the word of what one says. Was just trying to better understand the situation. I apologize. I don't even know the extent of what went down because I have just been ignoring it all until now for some reason. I think I am going to go back to that though. Hehe no need throwing burning wood on a fire that was already put out. =D

I've been reading the forums a lot lately and I just don't get what you are saying AB. This link doesn't explain how I can exploit the points system to my advantage, give me the right to criticize others for doing so, or rail against an imperfect points system...am I missing something? the cap was set by me almost immediately. i posted a heads up in the prophets thread (and ours) stating that the extra production was not going to effect the outcome of our bid for the top 2 in our bracket almost immediately after the brackets were final. i asked for it because it would have been unfair to count it. it had nothing to do with ANY person's complaints or anticipated complaints. go look. my post is still in the prophets thread. "hey guys, look i know i'm over-producing atm, I'm working with troy to fix it." furthermore in our thread i was clear about my intentions to terminate after midnight well in advance of the end of the final round and an update that explained why i failed to do so and i mentioned capping myself. when i set up the extra points, i intentionally handicapped myself then too. had i wanted to just take 4th place, just to prove i could, we would have. i could have started up 12 hours earlier, or easily produced more over those 36hrs(look at my OC stats). i wanted the race to be close. we lost 4th because the other teams stepped up their game where we failed to do so(my team CTFD) and that's the way it should have happened. after that point, the only thing that kept me from stopping the production was that i was unable to -oneunit any of my clients. terminating them remotely would have caused many dumped WUs. i elected to run the points with the cap rather than dumping the other WUs. it seemed like the best solution. the cap was self-instituted for fairness towards the prophets (and because not doing it would have led to that same defeated we-don't-have-a-chance feeling that CTFD was dealing with all contest long because almost all the teams were WAY past their estimates). I WAS ALWAYS WORKING IN THE BEST INTEREST OF A HIGH-OUTPUT COMPETITIVE CLIMATE. i signed up for a fun contest. this has been one of the least fun contests i have ever been a part of. (and not just because of the name calling and the unnecessary ethics lectures where people assumed that i was... i don't really know what... something?) because of the disparity from one team to another, several members were slowing down, chilling off, and ppd was suffering.

Some of the slow down has nothing to do with you or this perceived problem. One of my team8's has experienced a couple of unexplainable lengthy shut downs and I have fried a card and have gotten several BSOD's since the start of the contest. maybe, but there is something to be said about uncertainty and doubt and it was coming down to the home stretch anyway. obviously everyone can't fold all out 24/7 for a month. that's a red herring if you are trying to suggest that CTFD joining a 3 way race for 4th had zero effect on the actual choices made by the 60 or so people involved. of course, given the end result ~that i produced up to 9 million extra points that weren't accounted for in the contest, and it won't effect CTFD's final ranking in the slightest... its hard to find the down-side to a little more heat in the ring. I am sure however, that some negative nellies will go ahead and try. it should be noted also that given the disparity that the prophets and CTFD currently face, there is a friendly offer on the table to use my banked points to the same effect as in round one-- eg setting a target to beat and rising to the challenge, this would re-introduce said risk into the competition(just between our two teams). several prophets have spoken favorably about the idea, but it isn't official till the captains come to terms and it is completely up to the prophets. i have no idea why xz went about polling ALL team captains on a match-up that really only affected 2 teams. really. no idea. nor do i know why the top tier folks would be the ones to pile on or threaten to pull back performance(for the second time this contest to have a rule changed in their favor) in this scenario... as it stands now, if we are going to do it, it should have been done, like yesterday. round two ends in less than 48 hours folks.
