What about: 1). No penalty for overproduction. 2). A 25% bonus in Contest Points for anyone who comes within 10% of their prediction. Resets every day. Thus, if you predicted 100 PPD and end a day between 90 and 110 points, you actually get 1.25 x your prediction or 125 points that day. Thus, people who underestimated are not punished, but people who accurately estimated still have a chance to boost their points and keep up with the overachievers. Might be best saved for a future contest. The 25% bonus could be a good incentive for people to be more accurate in their predictions. -Rick

troy8d kody7839 troy8d Afterburner P.S..... I think it would be fun to have two winners... One that ends up closest to their "Predicted Production" and the other being the max producers. But that is just me... May not be a good idea... Unfortunately, this would mean the 1st place and 8th place team. Incentivizing a race to the bottom directly contradicts some major goals of the contest. I don't get why you always assume that someone giving an accurate and honest prediction to their production is a negative thing... Without it, you'll never have anything more than a glorified point race. Now that is a great thing for overall team production, but as we have found yet again kills anything that even resembles a real competition in the first few days. There will be some fun races and jockeying for the lower spots, but the the team that pulls the farthest out ahead will be the one that had more than one person grossly understate their production potential. Not really sure what you're talking about here, and it seems you are misunderstanding what I am saying. My point was simple: ALL teams are above their reported PPD - therefore a race to be most accurate would be a contest to see who could lower their production to coincide with what they predicted. Not really sure what you can't understand... The attempt to make balanced teams around numbers that are grossly inaccurate is a exercise in futility. I thought the attempt to modify the results to make it a closer race was noble, but in the end it was dropped.

Sorry fellas.. I meant my last idea as a fun one.. Not to create a conflict. And just so you know Troy, I understood what you meant.. Both are over 200PPD... Just trying to recognize those teams and players that did predict accurately is all. Heck I am double my predicted production and I thought it would only do 9k a day not 18k... For others. Please FTLOG do not take what I just said in a negative light. Predictions when not in a contest are very different than when in it. Add that to (Raises hand in major guilt) when the contest starts and you want to help reach the goal of 700/30... Well you get the idea.

In my case running 1 rig that drops a bomb every 3 days I would never get a bonus if the numbers were calculated on a day's production - I'm either at 0% or 300% if my prediction was perfect.

Is there a contest concensis on the JeffreyHam folda thon? I haven't heard anything , and wasn't sure what to do, I made a comitment to the team, before I heard about Jeff, and wasn't sure what to do. I understamd a large group of people will be folding under his name Friday. Also as far as the PPD thing, I intended to fold what I promised, But when I saw we couldn't keep up, I fired up another I-7 and two 580's, sorry if that is upseting anyone, just trying to keep us from droping, we seem to be holding around 4th. If I had the power didtribution, I have two more systems to bring to bear, but if I fire them up, I blow the breaker.

I pulled rescourses over to the Jeffryham-athon. And added resources for the contest that allows me to keep pace with previous production. That said, many folks are only running for one day with what they have. No extra resourses available... It really depends on what you would like to do.

I don't see any correlation between a bonus for an accurate PPD prediction (which prediction is critical for a fair balanced contest) and the way in which those points are generated. By your logic, only people running uniprocessor or GPU work deserve an accuracy bonus.

I have to agree with punchy. Any credit(s) given for deciding to fold for FAH should not be detrimented because 'one decides to enter' a folding contest. To be fair in a contest, the rules should be designed to accommodate all (ALL) contest entrants. . Contests are not the venue to remedy PG (FAH) mistakes in PPD awarding. JIMO, YMMV. Sean
