so can you guys give me a little more understanding of how you calculate diminishing returns for going over the estimated ppd? seems to me most everyone 'lied' about their potential, so when I double my output, will I still be docked a bit of credit even if my team is behind? do the diminishing returns kick in before or after total team hitting the mark?
BTW I don't care if it is a fair fight or not. (you did a great job of balance off what people told you BTW) its for the project, more is better, but just want to be clear on how to exploit the machanics seeing as everyone is doing it. lol, I am NOT complaining:) just asking for clerification.

No need to worry just yet, it takes a few days for production to level off. If someone is lucky enough to drop a big WU right at the start, their PPD will skyrocket. Also, those unlucky will be slower off the blocks - which is why we let it run for more than 24 hours.

I believe last year troy allowed you to make up for lost Production(from teammates) - but once that was met you then if you are over(individually) then it kicks in
but like troy said it's early ...
Punchy dropped a B-12 or B-16 bomb (those take up to 4 days) for mega points... ie like 400k
so at times people will look like they are over by big margins
we need to see it over a week to get a sense of the production numbers

Just added a Creative PCI X-Fi XtremeGamer to the general pool gift list!
I have that same exact sound card sitting on my shelf collecting dust.... I didn't have any luck with the available windows 7 drivers as it kept freezing my system so I replaced it with a Asus Xonar DX. Creative has had terrible drivers ever since windows vista and windows 7 came out, but they were excellent back in the Windows XP days (I had a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 back then).

I've had no problems with my Fatal1ty either. win 7.
ASUS P9x79 Pro with Intel I7 3930k 4.2 Ghz, Dual EVGA GTX 580s SLI I use Bionic to help save the world while I'm sleeping, watching TV, or pretty much doing anything but gaming on my PC.

I have the Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Music in my X58 rig. Runs perfectly fine with Win7. I love the 24-bit Crystalization on it. Really brings the noise to life (deeper bass, clearer music) On a side note, how are the contest points being generated? I know its 1 contest point for every WU & 1k points dropped. But what about when you exceed your projected points?

3/3/12 - A system is now implemented to limit the ability of people that are egregiously over their estimates to distort the contest results. Key characteristics:
- The system provides a good deal of leeway and
- Never penalizes over production (i.e. you never lose points for going over, you just may not receive full contest points beyond a certain threshold)
- Does not penalize teams that are below their predicted PPD as a team.
- Everyone is welcome to provide feedback on the system, but I would like the team captains to vote on it in the next day or two.
- A handful of contestants have yet to produced any output. After attempting to contact them, most were facing circumstances beyond their control and will be back online soon. A few have yet to reply.
