Tomorrow is the last official day you can sign up for the contest.  After the process of forming teams begins, registration will be closed.

What happens if the number of PPD is above or below of what was reported?
I've noticed that my PPD is fluctuating lately. It was around 13.000PPD if I was folding 24h and now it increased to 17-18.000 for the same 24h period. At an average of 6 WU / 24h.

well for one you have to have a team first
troy won't do that till after everyone has updated their estimated PPD (if they need to) today
 
then the start I believe is random to thwart off violating rules (ie...waiting in the wings with done units)

no one knows when it starts...so it may time to be right before  your drop or it may start after it drops - hence random
 
you will only know when troy posts the stats(some time later than the start of it) and by then all the teams will have points, because all will be folding. and hopefully some get lucky.
 
The holding of done units ie. laptop - smp - no internet upload - store Wu's on card - upload units (max 10) when contest starts on  a system with upload (FORBIDDEN)
or FOLDING till  99% stop - wait and then after contest starts finish it (FORBIDDEN)
 
this would require knowing when the contest starts
this is why it's kept secret...you might not know til hours or even a day later it's already started 
you would miss getting new Wu's and you would drop the other one til way later (if smp lowering their value)
double whammy - you lose work and you lose points if you try to cheat
 
 

I warned folks about the HPCS points around the time I did my own benchmark run.  I know I'm going from almost 110kppd from HPCS down to about 28k or so ppd from HPCS.  I've already got most of my high level servers decommissioned.  Just letting the last 4 run their WU's through before I shut them down.
 
On another, and what is for me a very COOL note, thanks to HPCS, I finally made a showing on EOC in the top 20! 

While it sucks to be losing the horsepower during a contest, I'm happy to see this, at least once!
 
On that note, folks, the stats system is humming along nicely, I have my co-captain for the Pimps and it looks like work is going to be just as insane in the the future as it has been in the recent past.

I'm afraid all the HPCS points are going to be screwed up when HP starts cutting people off from their 8p instances tomorrow.
I'm also curious how many instances of what types werty316 is using to get over 500,000 ppd, when just starting a few days ago after the 8p (xxlarge) instances were not allowed.

 
Everyone is responsible for making sure their points are accurate.  I PM'd all HPCS folders and asked them for an update.  I will also try to distribute HPCS folders as evenly across teams as possible.
 
Ultimately, however, it is  up to you the individual to make sure there numbers are right and note that they utilize HPCS at their own risk.  If goes offline during the contest, things will continue onward.
