muskie32 Gosh, why does it get so heated when a contest come up. GUYS! It is just a contest! The whole point of the contest is to get new and more hardware added to crunch more units! It all comes down to science. Just forget about the whole point system and have a good time. Savvy? This. We're all on the same team, the contest is just supposed to be some amical competition

3/6/12 - In regard to the points system, while modifying points to better reflect people's estimated points production may have reduced the gap between some of the teams, the decision has been made that ultimately it did not add enough value to the contest to justify using it.
- Team order changes very little with or without it.
- Removing the system makes a much closer race for the 2-4 and 5-6, and 7-8 positions in the qualifying round, which would be missing out on.
- Though the theoreticals behind the system are sound, there was too much controversy around the proper way to implement it, and at the end of the day I don't have enough free time to come up with a system I would deem adequately fair to everyone involved.
- This will remain in effect for the remainder of the contest period, so plan accordingly.
- Good luck and apologies for any confusion in this matter.

I've decided to run my other 2 rigs for as long as the first 2 that net me around 100K in total. Usually I only run 2 out of 4 rigs for 17 hrs at a time, the other 2 do about 5 hrs a day. This should have been providing me with atleast a further 90K points however as I remember troy saying that you would only get partial points for anything over your estimate then this should be fine.

It is a sign of respect for a fallen member. Like when we go to a funeral, we where black. Or a Fireman or Police officer has lost their life. Like when we place our flags half staff. All goes together. Sense we do not have flags or wear cloths for others to see, this is how I chose to do it. It is my way of showing respect for a fallen member. looks like his folding name is jeffreyham ,all in subs

How about freeing about those teams not in the lead from recruiting? for teams that can't make up the shortfall or gap (not every team can ramp up and bring in rigs from elsewhere) while in 1st place you can't (this would be the only rule) - so everyone can catch up if this is to be an all out point race - get rid of limiting recruitment (also be a good idea to extend the qualifying round race - to allow people to recruit)

Great idea, XZ, but a potential migraine for Troy and Mr. D. If it's okay with them, it's okay with me (not speaking for my team, just as an individual).

I for one liked a lot of the ideas and attempts at finding a contest tweak for everyone to like. And to be frank. The only way to do it is inside a controlled event. All the "Guesses" and "Estimates" in the world cannot predict what just a few days in a contest can produce. Just wanted to reach out to those Captains and Troy and Mr. D for working so hard on a "Volunteered" project of such magnitude. Thank you! P.S..... I think it would be fun to have two winners... One that ends up closest to their "Predicted Production" and the other being the max producers. But that is just me... May not be a good idea...

I don't get why you always assume that someone giving an accurate and honest prediction to their production is a negative thing... Without it, you'll never have anything more than a glorified point race. Now that is a great thing for overall team production, but as we have found yet again kills anything that even resembles a real competition in the first few days. There will be some fun races and jockeying for the lower spots, but the the team that pulls the farthest out ahead will be the one that had more than one person grossly understate their production potential.

Not really sure what you're talking about here, and it seems you are misunderstanding what I am saying. My point was simple: ALL teams are above their reported PPD - therefore a race to be most accurate would be a contest to see who could lower their production to coincide with what they predicted.
