Troy, Dutch Force:  What is your thinking about assembly?  Ship parts to the winner and let them build or build it and
send it complete?

This is something we discussed, but haven't arrived at a decision as to what is best.  I think it would be easiest to ship as one after it has been assembled, but I also know there are a lot of enthusiasts out there that would rather put it together themselves.  What do you guys think?

I like the Idea however the CPU cooler should be optional Air Cooled or Water Cooled. Perhaps both options should be donated with it.

the winner has the choice what to use this way.

Water cooled or air cooled?  What do you guys think?

Shipping isn't cheap and the money would be better spent on hardware. The lucky winner might be scared of assembling the hardware but it's pretty easy. We could help or work something out if needed.

From a safety standpoint, it would be better to ship the computer without heavy parts like the graphics card or a clunky CPU cooler installed, as there is a risk that these parts can bounce during shipping and do some real damage.

If needbe, I've got a

Z68 board I'll throw in if it ends up being an 1155 socket.

There's a plug broke off in the main audio plug. So it's kinda stuck to folding only. Especially since if its going to be a Bidadv build.

No audio is really needed I think for a folder. It ain't doing anything but working the CPU really.

If it is just going to fold would an optical drive be needed?

I don't even have an optical drive in my machine.

I use it daily for 4-6 hours.  Steam & Blizzard do direct downloads, no need for me.

quick update on the parts we have so far
Case:
PSU:  750W Ultra by Lu523
Motherboard:
ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution by Barbarossa
Gigabyte GAZ68X- UD3P by JChatterton
CPU: i7 2600k by Dutchforce
CPU Cooler:Corsair hydro series cooler by Dutchforce
                    EVGA Superclock Cooler by KODY
RAM:
GPU:  Geforce 210 by Firestarter
          unspecified ATI card by Asus939
          PNY 9500 GT by dvast8n
Harddrive:
Optical Drive:
OS:   Ubuntu or Linuxrouters image-> both free of charge
Shipping & Handling:
5 channel fan controller by Drougnor
cash donations for parts/shipping:  yeenoghu , Firestarter

an optical drive is really only necessary to install the OS , and depending on which OS, you can completely get around that by installing it from a USB thumb drive.

This is starting to look like a great rig we´re putting together
Keep the donations coming!
lots of Edits for formatting

And THANKS for all the donations so far ... it's amazing how much we already have, you ALL ROCK!!!
It looks like we almost can build 2x Bigadv folding rigs .. I wouldn't mind to donate a second i7-2600K CPU if we can.

I think it's best to let the winner decide, like Troy said there are a lot of members who can put it together themselves.
But whatever the winner decides, I'll cover the shipping costs.

And if anyone has parts, but doesn't have the money for shipping costs and has an Paypal account, just PM me and I'll send you the money .. no problem.

Keep in mind, my mobo isn't perfect.

I used it for about 2-3 months then the speaker plug in was broken off in them. So I retired it, once the EVGA Z68 boards came out.

Just shoot me a PM later on about the shipping address.
I'll be moving into my own apartment soon, so I might be broke.

This is making want to build my own big adv rig. Stupid military retirement check isn't big enough.

Again, I am amazed at how quickly several community members got behind and supported this idea.  We might have to move up the contest start date - I expected this to take quite a bit longer!

Currently, we have enough donations to complete 1 BigAdv rig.  Given the overlap in parts, DutchForce has offered another CPU to make 2 complete rigs.  At present we are around (estimated) $150-200 short of having 2 complete rigs.  Donations of RAM/HD/Case will help to fill the holes remaining, though we could always save the spare parts for the next contest.

I've got a 320gb laptop sata HD if needed.

I've just  been using it for storage, but it could be used as a  desktop HD I suppose.

I have a 160Gig hdd I can add in. As far as a case goes I have a folder on a tech station. Actually I have 1 that is not being used. It is a pain with tall air cooler though. http://www.highspeedpc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=StdTechStation
I might be atempted to throw it in the pot.

GPU:  Geforce 210 by Firestarter (x2 if needed)
              unspecified ATI card by Asus939

I think we could almost do 2 rigs.

Some cheap cases, would be perfect. If I had the cash I'd buy my new case and throw my old one in.(CM Storm Scout).

I want that Bitfenix outlaw case. I like it.

I've shipped a HAF 932 before, costs around $35, I think that was USPS too. Just box it and wrap it good. Stuffed the inside of the case with news paper.

May end up selling it before the TZC to buy a pot to do some serious benching. Waiting on the F1 Dark and new Tek 9 Slim to release from kingpin. So whichever is first is probably what I'll do. If the F1 Dark releases first then I can probably do a Storm Enforcer Instead.
