Barb can you list my donation as a 690 II Advanced/Storm Enforcer? What it is will depend on the time. Thanks.

Think barb is putting in some long hours so it might be a day or 2 before he replies. Maybe shoot him a pm

Man, I was thinking about something exactly like this a while ago.

BIG ADV units are memory hogs right?  I'm thinking about kicking in some RAM but I don't know how much they really need.

Re:2011 Time Zone Challenge "Grand Prize" 2011/10/03 05:16:51 (permalink)
alright, here´s the promised update: we have 2 complete rigs

Case: Tech station by Lu 523 http://www.highspeedpc.co...ry_Code=StdTechStation
690 II Advanced or Storm Enforcer  by Halo_003 (depending on what he has at that time)
          HAF 932 by Horvat
PSU:  750W Ultra by Lu523
Corsair hx 650 (donor wants to remain anonymous)
Corsair AX 750 W by yeenoghu
Motherboard:

ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution by Barbarossa

        Gigabyte GAZ68X- UD3P by JChatterton
  CPU: i7 2600k by Dutchforce (x2)

CPU Cooler: Corsair hydro series cooler by Dutchforce

                    EVGA Superclock Cooler by KODY

  RAM:  2 x2 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 by Barbarossa
        2 x 2GB Corsair XMS  DDR3 by Zophar
GPU:  Geforce 210 by Firestarter (x2 if needed)
              unspecified ATI card by Asus939
              PNY 9500 GT by dvast8n
Harddrive: 320 GB Laptop HDD by JChatterton
        160 GB HDD ny Lu523
Optical Drive: 417jmf ASUS DVD burners
OS:   Ubuntu or Linuxrouters image-> both free of charge
   handling:
   peripherals:
             5channel fan controller by Drougnor
case fans and fan controller by hutt8400
cash donations for parts/shipping:  yeenoghu , Firestarter, Dutchforce, Mr Ash (100$ parts/shipping)

one thing I noticed whilst going through the list: we´d still need case fans.

Since the question has arised more then once now: do we just ship the individual parts to the winners, or do we ship them a complete rig? Opinions?
I´m leaning towards letting the winner build it themselves.
edit: added the Corsair AX 750 W
  edit2: added hutt8400 donation

I still think letting the winner choose since some are up to it more than others on building there own and setting up F@H .

It seems that Barbarossa has taken the ball and run with this idea, and we are always happy to have more help in organizing things around here.  I'm quite happy that this has developed on its own with very little input from me (not that I haven't been watching).  So thanks to Barbarossa for stepping up.

Those that have made donations to the build should be receiving a PM from Barbarossa over the next day or two regarding the qualifications for someone to be eligible to receive a bigadv rig.  If you haven't heard from him in a couple days, please let him know not to forget you.  I've provided some guidelines as to what I think would work well, but ultimately it is the donors coming together to make this happen so you should have the most say in how this shapes up.

Thanks to all who have gotten behind this idea!

Thanks guys for putting your time and effort into getting things setup.
My take on assembly is let the winner set it up. That way it's done the way they want it. I thinks that 99.9% of the people here can do a good setup on their own. And as for the other .1% well theres no hope for you. JK. Thanks again guys and keep up the good work.

Unless you're willing to kick in the remaining parts for a 3rd rig, we'll save it for the next contest.

Ah well in that case would you mind if I saved my case donation for the next contest? Since we already have two ready. I essentially have unlimited access to CM cases since I write for them.

I'd be willing to "test" a HAF X for my bigadv rig... oh well, it was worth a shot!  Just picked up a HAF 912... once my new res arrives I'll be leak testing.  I hope this doesn't start for at least another week!

one thing I noticed whilst going through the list: we´d still need case fans.

I haven't been into the Contest threads for quite awhile and just noticed all this stuff about the TZC 2011.  I don't know if you have everything for the 2-Builds yet, but I can donate (4) unopened, new in the box Enermax 120mm Magma Fans to wherever they could be used in these builds.

Here's a link to the Fans and specs:

Thanks for the offer texinga, but the two builds are already complete.
However, you can still put them up as individual donations

Could I donate W7 upgrades? Someone would have to install and old windows first. But I could do two so they both have it.

PM me if you want it.

Good stuff, glad to hear that you have the 2 Bigadv boxen assembled.  These are great prizes for sure!  The fans I have already have a home now, so I won't be donating them to TZC in the general donations.  Best of luck to everyone on the Challenge and those 2 prize rigs!
