So my 2 670's seem to be stuck at 966mhz during idleing. I have it happen once before i think it was 504mhz or something but it fixed itself after i restarted my computer. This time that doesnt seem to be the case. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get them to go back down? anyone have any ideas? There not overclocked, im running the 301.42 drivers. I was idling about 24c but now im at 45c. EDIT: Scratch that i did a new driver install and the cards went back down to 324mhz. I have to say i have never had driver issues before, but this 301.42 driver sucks for me. Oh well guess its off to play the waiting game for some newer ones.

same here, but my 670 reference gets stuck at 914MHz at idle, no longer downclocking to 504 or 302MHz at all ... I think I haven't seen this behavior until I did 2 things: a) updated drivers to latest beta 304.79 b) flashed the updated GPU firmware. one out of the 2 (or both) screwed it up. EDIT: actually I think it's the driver at fault here ... it worked fine with either 301.42 or 304.48 drivers ...

I'm running .79's. Mine did that as well, getting stuck at 512 or something, but now they work properly. No clue what happened, they only got stuck right after I enabled SLI. They're fine now though

yeah, it's weird. when mine gets stuck at 914MHz the idle GPU temp is 42C, but when it downclocks properly than it idles at 27C ... quite a difference ... and an easy way to tell without opening precision ... for now removed all saved profiles in precision, will see after system restart if it helped or not. seems like I might be rolling back to 304.48 after all ...

Both of mine are flashed to the new firmware as well. I do run multiple monitors, however. I have a Yamakasi and a Dell connected via DVI and a Samsung TV connected via HDMI. I thought that might have been my problem at first, but I don't know. I turned my computer on one day and they downclocked properly lol.

hehe, yeah sometimes I saw mine downclocking normally with the very same driver and new bios too ... don't know what triggers the problem yet ... and I run 1x dell monitor only via dvi-d port. hopefully nvidia comes up with new whql in following days/weeks, it would be nice to use some solid driver with most of bug fixes for 600 series ...

Well im glad im not the only one who has had the same issue. Im just assuming its this 301.42 driver. Im debating on rolling back since i didnt have any issues before. But i just keep thinking they will release a new one any day now. It just seems with this driver everything works fine for a week then something goes screwy until i start from scratch again.

neal0790, you having this problem on 301.42 driver? have you updated the GPU BIOS?

feniks neal0790, you having this problem on 301.42 driver? have you updated the GPU BIOS? Yeah i updated the bios a few days ago on my 670 SC 4GB

OK, then I change my statement. it's not the driver causing it, it's the GPU BIOS update we all uploaded? ... damn. I suggest we all post this experience in GPU update thread ... edit: nope, just reflashed back to original and the core stays in 900 hundreds whenever my browser is running. perhaps it did to start with ha ha! it downclocks normally after I close the browser anyways tested the older bios in the same game and again the clocks did not boost ... but that is this game (F:NV), simply boost is not needed to maintain 60FPS the only good outcome is that I experience less power throttle (core speed oscillation) under load and that is what matters for me most.
