K so I'm just curious for those who stepped up to the 1080 today, what were your options of the 1080?

What's available to you? Just the founders edition 700$ or the base 600$ one?

All those are available for stepup? I thought only reference models are... interesting.

From what I gather, these are using the reference PCB's.

EDIT: I stepped up to the 6181 model, the only models I saw there were like stated ealier:
    • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION
    • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 ACX 3.0
    • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080

So is the stepup program only for the reference PCBs? No chance we will be able to get a classified right? I've seen the leaked pictures and those show 2x8pin connectors

Unless you're planning on LN2 or liquid cooling, the ACX 3.0 card will be more than suitable. Most reports say that the 8-pin isn't the issue with overclocking the card, there are other walls being hit instead.

Unless you want that sick RGB lighting, then I feel you, man.

I'm confused regarding availability through the StepUp program; there seem to be a lot of reports of people picking up the SC edition during step up and I'm not certain if there's a fluke on their end or mine given the website's instability right now. I see the Founders Edition, Standard EVGA, and EVGA ACX3.0+ but no SC/FTW options.

I got the 6181 myself, but I have been hearing several people were able to stepup to the $649 6183 (ACX 3.0 SC)...

Who knows whether or not this is true, but I am rather stoked to be upgrading so quickly from a 970 to a 1080 no matter what the available model was!

I guess the only difference is a around ~100Mhz overclock from EVGA. It'll be interesting to see more benchmarks between the two cards, as it looks like (from the HotHardware benches) it will really only add maybe 1 - 3 fps difference in games at 1440p (which I game at), and 4k. Even if you can only get a stable 50mhz overclock, the already small 1 - 3 fps difference becomes like possibly <2 fps and maybe even same fps in some games. I'm just happy I got in the queue for the 6181!
