The demand is huge right now. Out here in Canada there's basically no 1080's except for MSI. EVGA prices their 3.0 ACX card at $825 in CAD where as the MSI is sitting at $999. Judging from what ive seen in terms of performance and benchmarks the difference in clock speeds in the 1080 are so minimal I don't even care about the difference. 5-10% is literally nothing and it makes no sense to overclock on Pascal and I will go with the EVGA card. I'm just curious if I order it how long it will take before we actually see them?

My Setup
-ASUS PG259QN, XG248Q
-Lian Li 011 Dynamic
-MSI Z490 Meg Ace
-10900K 5.2GHZ

-Artic Freezer II 360MM
-16GB Viper 4400MHZ
-3080 TI Founders

-EVGA 750 P2

If 10% performance difference is nothing to you, buy a used 980ti hybrid and have it tomorrow.

The 1080 out performs the 980 ti and it's less cad? Lol thanks for the useless tip I guess.

If you purchase directly from the website the 980 Ti's are currently on sale. After rebates, the 980 Ti Classified (06G-P4-3997-KR) is $389.99 USD which comes out to $511.88 CAD and the GTX 1080 ACX 3.0 (08G-P4-6181-KR) is $619.99 USD which is $813.77 CAD.

I would recommend checking out the 980 Ti's in the EVGA online store to see what deals are currently going on.

I feel like a 980 TI makes zero sense considering I would have to pay the taxes of importing it anyways. In some games the 1080 gets 40-50 more FPS and is far superior in dx12. I may not be Bill Nye the science guy but I am pretty sure that difference is far greater than 10% ;)

Might make sense if not for the >$60 shipping charge, and the fact that it ships via UPS, which is notorious for charging insane brokerage fees.

I feel pretty torn on what I want to do. I mean regardless it seems like I have to wait as there is literally no stock on 1080's right now. The EVGA SC is $825 where as the MSI version is $1000. I could get a 1070 SC for 640. I need to ask myself if 20 fps in 1080p gaming is worth the extra 2-400 dollars. I just want to buy a flagship card that will last 2 years.

Is there an eta when we will see more cards on the market? I'm actually surprised they can't meet the demand for such a high price. It's like Samsung launching the S7 and no one could get one ;)

I wish the FPS increase was that big.  A 1080 is only pulling 5-10 more FPS over a 980ti.

    3080 FTW3 Ultra, Hero XIII, 11900k, Samsung 980 PRO 1TB, Acer XB270HU 1440p/144hz, Evga Supernova 1000w platinum.
