After exiting the Heave benchmark, my temps on the X OC overlay drop about 10c to what is listed on the X OC client. Temps are in the low 60c in benchmark, but after exiting the client reports low 50c. Does any one know what my actual temp is? Just wondering, as I would like to stay around 50c. If it helps, I am overclocking on the core with 125, 500 on memory, %120 power, and fans are set at %60 at 50c. All help is appreciated.

Set a higher fan curve if you want lower temperatures. If you don't want to do that then instead of overclocking, underclock the card. If you don't want to do either of those, watercool the card.

Just so you know, these cards are good up to 92C - where they will then start to downclock significantly to save the GPU from damage.

Just wondering if the overlay or the client is correct. At least I am assuming that the card can't drop 10c in seconds.

They are both correct. 60C in a game is really quite cool.

50C when not in a game is normal as well, since ACX 3.0 doesn't turn on the fans until 60C unless you set a custom fan profile.

Also my temps skyrocket when using X OC, seems like it doesn't use my fan curve. I will definitely be sticking with MSI AB for now. Thanks for your reply!

If you use MSI afterburner at the same time as precisionX, you WILL run into problems with the fans.

Just use one program at a time, and uninstall the other.

I have been told that you can have both installed, but not both running. Both are not running at once. Thanks.

If the fans are spun up, and the load on the GPU drops from 100% to basically nothing on fractions of a second...Yes the temperature can drop 10 C in a matter of seconds.

Heck - my CPU temps will go up and down instantly with a change in CPU load.

If the temperatures are good and stable while you are running the card hard, what are you having issues with?

(Edit: you can do the thermal calculations yourself...take the thermal mass of the heat exchanger fins, the flow rate of the air through the fins, the temperature of the heat exchanger, and the temperature of the air in your case...crunch the numbers and it will make sense.)

Ok, great thanks for an answer. My main issue is that it seems like XOC is not using my fan profile, as in game temps on the OSD rise to 70 sometimes. However if I exit to the client my temps fall quickly, like fans are spinning as fast as I set them to (around %80 at 70c), and not the stock fan curve. This only happens with XOC, so it looks like I will be using AB for a while still.
    Thanks.

Yes it can easily drop 10 degrees in a matter of seconds. When you are in game/ benchmark, the card is running at its 3d boost clocks with high voltage to support this, which is what leads to high temps. Once you exit the game or bench then immediately the clocks drop back to idle as do the voltages, which immediately reduce the temp.
