Hi guys,

I'm upgrading from my old 980 Ti SC to the 1080 SC and I want to know what sort of fan curve you guys use, if any. I used a curve with my 980 Ti SC because I do quite a lot of gaming. Will the 1080 SC need a fan curve or will it be ok to play graphically intense games without one?

Hello pilot2fly!

The 1080 SC's standard fan curve should be optimized for normal use and gaming. If you want your system to be cooler then you can always change the curve. Otherwise, It's fine to just play any game straight out of the box.

I always run 100% fan speed when gaming.

I'm with Sajin. I had mine start out low and then in the mid 50s jump up to like 80%, scaling to 100% by 60 or so. It only got that hot when gaming, and while gaming I've got headphones on, so I didn't even hear it. Honestly though it wasn't that loud to me anyway. Of course now it's dead silent since it's water cooled.

Right on guys! That's how I roll with my 1080 sli. If there's a load and hits 40c it's off and runing at 85% fans. 50c at 100% from there on. Cool it before it gets a chance to get.hot.

Though I've got water blocks on the classifieds now. Take me another day or 2 to get the new rig up and runing.

I find that the default aggressive setting in PrecisionX OC works well, with a small tweak to run a lower fan speed of 0-20% instead of 50% at idle.
