Thanks for pointing me to that sticky. I just purchased the 980TI hybrid and was looking to step-up to the 1080 Hybrid, fortunately Amazon has 30 day return policy. Guess I have to get by on the integrated gpu until Hybrids release.

I was able to step up to the 1080 SC 3.0 ACX but I was also one of the first to step up. Apparently they ran out really fast and took it out

It was probably a typographical error and wasn't supposed to be in the step up program when it was entered. If you haven't paid for it, you may find the cost is lower than you anticipated, meaning they may have corrected the error.

They may actually honor those that got the order in before the mistake was corrected as well.

    Only time will tell though.

It was actually confirmed by EVGA that they were available for step up. They only had a limited amount available. I just happened to get in early enough. Price is $649.99 ;) exactly what it should be

I wanted to get in on an upgraded card like the SC 3.0 ACX but I kept going to the step up page and only looking at the top card.  I was like "Nope, the 970 is still the best card available" = (

Then randomly I checked again and saw the three 1080s that are available now.  I only have 7 days left.  Here's hoping that the better cards become available again soon!

just because its not available (in stock atm) does not mean you cant step up and wait for it ,then send your card in . You get put in a line and they auto notify you when to send yours in and finish the step up process.  If you are unsure of the step up process re-read it or call EVGA asap before your time runs out.

If you meant better cards such as the SSC FTW Classy Kingpin ...well dont wait at all as they most likely will never be on the list ,and if they do it will be near the end of the 1070/1080 series card life .

    Hope this helps you

EVGATech_Chris just confirmed that users can step up within the same series now.  so, you can "Step-Up" from a 1080 Founders Edition to a 108 ACX 3.0..

Since the Founders edition will always cost more, you will lose the extra you paid and you will pay for shipping to return the card as well as receive the new card.  So, you start by losing X amount, and then you pay shipping both ways, and lose that.. overall, its around a $150 loss to "step up" that way.  Not sure why anyone would do that, but it is interesting to know they are allowing this now.
