Hello everyone, new guy here. Just found out about the step up program. Would moving from an EVGA GeForce GTX1070 sc GAMING to an GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING ACX 3.0 be "worth it?" (I  realize this is VERY subjective, but is stepping up from one to the other a good move?) Any help would be great. Thanks everyone!

I mainly game at 1440p. Also, to put it plainly, I'd like to take advantage of the program and obtain an "upgrade." That is, if doing so would truly be an upgrade.

If you like to wait 2-3 years before upgrading your card I would definitely consider stepping up to a 1080.

Yes any GTX 1070 would be fine.

I purchased my 1070 SC in September of this year. Wanted to take advantage of the step up program now, but only if the 1080 ACX or Founders Edition would be an actual upgrade from what I currently have.

Of course it's an upgrade 1080>1070≥980ti>1060≥980. But you're going to have to pay the difference which I believe is roughly 200 dollars plus some. You will have to pay for shipping both ways for me it was around 50 dollars, and you will be without a  graphics card for ~1 week during the shipping/processing stage. You would have been MUCH better off just buying the 1080 from the jump. Just cause the programs in place doesn't mean you have to use it. You can consider SLI also but do your research, not all games/applications support it, but for the ones that do I'd imagine 1070 sli beats the crap out of a 1080, although I've never checked the benchmarks for that comparison.

For me I wouldn't have stepped up my 980ti except for the fact that the prices for the 1080 I stepped up to were identical so I didn't have to pay anything but shipping, and still got 6 months of use out of my 980ti, but if I had to pay an extra 200 dollars I wouldnt have done it. I would have waited for prices to drop and picked up another used 980ti for SLI, and just rocked that for the next 3 or so years.

Just do your research check benchmarks on 1070 vs 1080 and see if the frame rate increase is worth is for your monitor resolution as both cards are overkill for 1080p res. I would also check benchmarks of 1070sli vs 1080.
