So my 1070 ftw is getting up to 75c and thats with the fans turn all the way high. Also i notice that the core clock is dropping and voltage is dropping as well. Is this normal?

If this is under heavy graphics load then that temperature is not out of bounds. I've seen people who get lower temps, and people who get higher temps, depending on airflow and temperature in the case and so forth. The clock speed drops as the temperatures rise, starting at around 50 C or so and dropping every so many degrees. That's how Boost 3.0 works - rather than just give you one clock speed, it attempts to run the card as fast as temperature and power limits will allow. It's one of the features that rewards water cooling and hybrid cooling in this generation of cards, or at least well-ventilated computer cases.

edited to add: If you run Precision X OC and use the little arrows to navigate to the Boost 3.0 screen, ie: the graph, you'll see that the cards come by default with a voltage/clockspeed curve which raises the voltage as the clock speed raises. So as Boost 3.0 starts reducing clock speed due to rising temperature, the voltage used will drop as well. Editing this curve is one tool overclockers can use to try to make higher clock speeds more stable.

just use a custom fan curve. I set mine to cut off at 45, and anything past 60 is full speed. Very little room for play. It's either idle in my system or under very small loads, or being used for gaming. During a hot day the temps usually don't even reach 45 at idle. That is pretty much the limit for my card in my case. Anything past 45 and I would like a small amount of air flow to keep it at least at that temp. Anything past 65 for gaming imo, is not optimal. I don't care if its rated for 75 degrees or 200.

Yea, I'm totally not into the stock fan settings.

My fan curve is more like a fan ski lift and it is Swiss ;)

I have a minor overclock and my temps stay below 60 even after hours of player Witcher 3 where GPU is at or close to 100% all the time -- I do play in my basement which has a pretty decent ambient temperature of around 70-74 Fahrenheit this time of year.

1070 FTW about 26c in my room and through benchmarks at 100% usage at 2075mhz i peak at about 65c, No man's sky with everything up usage is about 50-70% temps stay around 53-55c

    what is your room temp?
