Hi guys,
Just want to have some information about 1070 SLI compatibility. Let's say I buy a 1070 HYBRID for now, and a 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 in 6 months, would they be able to SLI nicely together? I think these two have the same base and boost clock. I like the Hybrid cooler, but my case have only one 120mm slot for the cooler.

And is there a official FAQ for SLI like this one for 970s? (FAQ ID # 59534)

Thank you for your answer in advance.

1070 FTW is the same card as the 1070 Hybrid but with a different cooler...perhaps a better choice.

Why are you interested in SLI?  What resolution are you gaming with?

BUT...1 card is always better than 2 cards in SLI.  Not all games support SLI.

If you are going to drop $859 on 2 GPUs...why not just get a 1080 Hybrid ($729)...or if your budget can afford it, a Titan X Pascal ($1200).  One Titan X Pascal drives 4 K UHD resolution nicely!

The *slowest* card wins in terms of which *clocks* it will maintain during SLI-mode.

I currently SLI 2 1070's SC's and despite some of the user backlash and single 1080 recommendations, i like having the choice of using both for the much-needed boost in 1080p or 1440p to maintain 60fps...

Yea, SLI has it quirks with most games right-out the gate, but PC games have issues PERIOD out the gate since 85 percent of them are ports anyway. Typically, week 1 or month 2 patches include all necessary fixes [including SLI] by that time then further optimized by Nvidia anyways.

Triple A and non-triple A titles that are graphically intensive tend to support SLI fairly well [weeks on months later via patches] via DX11 and hopefully dx12/ vulkan will follow the same trend out the gate several years from now.

[Also, there is the the *heat* factor... Your 1st hybrid-cooler will stay cooler over the 2nd card [ACX or blower], however your 2nd card will be susceptible to [gpu 3.0 down-clocking] faster if temps rise too-much; 1 card being tremendously cooler than the other isn't much of a benefit in SLI unless you're just using 1 card in some unique scenarios anyways.

The 1070's from this generation do no have the same problem as the 970's. All 1070's will sli with each other just fine.
