Does anyone know if the 1070 SC edition comes with DVI-I?  The only reason I ask is because it shows that it has it on Newegg which is confusing.

I know it is wrong. But newegg does incorrectly list this card as having DVI-I in 2 places.

The EVGA description of the card on the sales page merely says dual-link DVI (without either a -D or -I)

I think it was a silly move  on nvidias part    to remove dvi-I  and replace it with  dvi-d    may as well went all the way like AND and just used all  display port or hdmi   ?  I still can use crt or older monitors that require d-sub or a dvi-I  only   and made the 10 series a no sale  cause now I cant universally  use the card for ''ALL'' my needs

how much cost is a dvi-I over a near useless dvi-d ??  1 cent over 10000 cards ??   then now you got to go buy a 30 buck active adaptor  that may work as expected   on top of the cards price  [your extra cost]   you can just get a 900 card that dvi-I and analog support is still native  on the card  at no extra cost   whats next win-10 only ?   dvi-I was one thing I could count on NVidia  but now that's gone as well   now there just like AMD  [lol]

There haven't been any vga/dsub only monitors built for several years.

As I discovered, the Korean 2560x1440 monitor that I had that came with a dvi-i dual connector and a dvi-i dual cable, really only used the dvi-d digital and the extra analog signals and wires weren't used. A dvi-d was all that was needed. ymmv  (I bought a DP to dvi-i active adapter that it turns out I really didn't need).

Getting rid of the analog circuitry probably saved a watt or 2 of power on the 1000-series, and simplified the output circuitry. If you have a vga/sub analog monitor its probably better to buy something like a GT710 single slot LP card and run the dsub off that. Any adapter cable/plug  would just be tossed in the junk box by most buyers today. Old habits are hard to break. I know.

Bottom line. To save 1 user $20 that an adapter would cost, costs 1,000 other users a $1 in extra cost for something they don't need.

wow  1$  over 20 ?  glad you not my accountant   than a dollar over a 500 $ card    big savings there

I guess they don't make  57 chevys or 66 mustangs anymore  but people still out there driving them around   but you know  like me I got old and new   and I prefer a card that coveres all my  needs  1 card 1 price not one that can only do 1/2   so 500 for a 1/2 butt card they I have to buy extra at my expense or 500 for one that covers all my needs ??   i'll just grab one of the now well discounted 980 ti   over the 1070  its equally as good   , but that's just me    thing is  why remove a usefull dvi-I for a dvi-d

like this 1070 specs show Max ResolutionDigital: 7680 x 4320 (requires 2*DP1.3 connectors) Analog: 4096 x 2160   but no way to access it native off the card  ?? [cant post links yet , sorry]  then like here and say at toms  how many ask this  as well or find they bought the card to find its not going to work out of the box

I don't know I just think they could of kept  dvi-I  as all ways did and all would be happy   and not deterring any sales   like I said I'm not buying it   but a lost sale is still a lost sale   and whay I ditched AMD top line of cards when they pull this for more NVidia   but now there all on the same level  of support  of my needs

Don't forget you need a DAC chip and it's supporting circuitry and board routing.  Probably closer to $4 or $5 (cheapest 240MHz video DAC on Digikey is $4.48 in 5000 unit quantities.) in bom cost.

    CPU: i7 5820k
GPU: 970 SC (soon to be 1080 ACX)
    Displays: BenQ W7000, HTC Vive
    Storage: 2x 1TB SSD's, 2x 300GB Velociraptors and a 3TB 7200 RPM drive (no RAID)
    RAM: 32GB
