I signed up for the queue despite having just bought a strix-f. I may return that board and use this one if I can get my hands on a kingpin GPU somehow…

Quantity of phases doesn't really do that. The quality/capability of each phase will though. I watched Buildzoid's z590 dark analysis and he showed that the "21-phases" are really more like 11 or something (don't remember the exact number off the top of my head), but even with that, he said it was extremely over-kill and one of the best ones you will ever find on the market (paraphrasing, again, I don't remember his exact words and I don't want to skim through the 55 minute video). The point is that the # of phases called out in the marketing is not just a direct comparison board to board and a "24 phase" might not be any better in reality than a "19 phase". It might be...but it also might not. You'd have to break it down to what each one can do and how it's being utilized to convince me.

Power phases ABSOLUTELY does effect how well you can OC your CPU, end of story......why do you think OC'ers use Apex / Dark boards....cause they look pretty? ;) This is based on my 14 yrs OC'ing....I dont have to watch a video on youtube... Power phases are in many cases when described /2 ...thats why he said 11 .....suggest you do more digging on power phases and how they work on a Board in relation to providing power to the CPU / Chipset / Memory etc There is nothing "overkill" about any enthusiast level hw.....that a rookie term! Anyhow got a notification to purchase but will pass on it...wait n see how robust the Dark is..robust when used in the same sentence as Motherboard refers to power delivery or power phases....

I would think it goes hand in hand with quantity and quality, right? I am sure there is a point of no return if you have junk hardware but a ton of it. Also, is the classified really for the OC'er? I thought that's what the Dark is about, classified is like the FTW of x570 is how I took it, more mainstream but with some added benefits and candy the OC boards get.

Thats pretty much it...the Dark will definitely come with more power phases for sure...the point of my post was for comparison only to the various line up of Asus Boards.

Yeah, you got it. Also, rj, I understand how the power phases work. I'm just saying it isn't always about the #. Buildzoid is just one reputable source that happened to do a full breakdown of the z590 Dark board. Also, by "overkill", he was referring to the board's ability to provide more power than the CPU could ever draw or the power supplies could provide (realistically anyway). This is done for stability, and as a circuit designer myself, yes it is common to "overdo" it so that you never have to worry about certain issues. I've only been overclocking for about 12-13 years, but I couldn't afford to buy my own parts before that as a poor college kid. I don't do LN2-cooling though, so no, I don't have experience with that. Perhaps they are driving 1000A into their CPU. I've never seen that though, and considering you didn't say XOC or LN2-OC, I also didn't realize you weren't talking about normal air or water overclocking. In any case, my point, which you seem to have misunderstood (no offense intended, but it seems to be the case) was that the # of phases advertised is usually just marketing. That doesn't mean that a board marketed as a "12 phase" or "16 phase" motherboard is just as good as a "24 phase" motherboard, which seems to be what you interpreted from my previous post. The takeaway from that point is that you need to read some reviews and do some more digging before you just assume "more phases = better", especially if your concern is overclocking. EVGA motherboards generally have fantastic VRM designs. I've never seen a review indicate otherwise if they actually look at more than the marketed "number of phases" and consider the parts and topology used in the VRM. Also, EVGA is in no way alone in this; it is industry standard. If the Apex for example was advertised as a 12 phase VRM (which it likely is), they'd get slaughtered by people who didn't understand what it means. It's also not always /2 though, as some phases are put through doubled parallel inductors and some aren't. Hence the common VRM#+1+1 type of +'s, etc.

Yea....I see the thread talking about the notifies now. Kinda odd since I've checked the website several times throughout the day and the page wasn't there until I checked it around 1:45PM PT when I signed up. Means it was actually up for several hours at one point when I checked. Maybe a browser caching issue :(.

They never said "in stock". It always starts with "notify" button, even on launch day. You sign up as early as you can. The first people with a high evga score... Which you get... Somehow... Get an email to purchase. Other than the score system, which is new and they haven't explained how exactly the scores work, the notify button being the only one you'll ever see, even on launch day, has been the system since sometime in 2020. Unlike graphics cards, they do tend to eventually catch up with motherboards and give them the green button for live purchase, but it takes months usually. Hit the button and hopefully you'll get one of the emails sooner than later.

any info on how this compares to the dark, I am replacing my Z390 Dark and am tired of waiting lol. The only thing I noticed were the 8-pin connectors are in a different place than the dark. Both PCB seem to be 10-Layer as well and the VRMs are different from what info I gathered.

So.. asking again.. because this was also ignored in the teaser months ago.. HOW MANY USB PORTS? I mean it's already insulting that manufacturers have resurrected the trend of eating up available space on the I/O panel by including useless PS/2 ports again But evga seems to think power phases and overclocking win out over the basic convenience of people to actually plug in peripherals, because they can't seem to include any of that information in specs sheets.. or photos

There's an image on the product page that shows 6 type A ports and 2 type C ports on the rear i/o. Their speeds are also shown in the picture via the markings (assuming they are correct). The spec sheet also shows this: "6x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 2x USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C". The spec sheet also shows this for Internal USB Ports: "1x USB 2.0 Port (for BIOS update), 2x USB 2.0 Headers, 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Header, 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C Header" What other information are you looking for?

Right you are.. sorry, all I had seen was the announcement page, I didn't see it had a purchase page as well
Glad they didn't bother to include the ps/2 ports this time around, but 6 USB ports is kind of a bad joke given thes size of case required just to house the board..
Thank you for pointing me to the right page, it at least confirms this as something that doesn't meet my needs

Your kidding right?! What are you plugging in your house to USB....how many you need? Of course Power Phases and OC'ability win....its an enthusiast Board what would you expect?! Maybe go to Best Buy and grab a pre built ;) btw PS/2 Mouse n Keyboard is "still a thing" with the OC'ing community....you will have to ignore those ports.

Got my queue notification late yesterday, and ordered this AM. First time I ever spend more than $250 on a MB, hoping for pure awesomeness. I only need 3 USB ports

rjbarker 19 power phases..... Apex / Extreme / 24 power phases Formula 20 power phases All other Maximus Gaming are 14.... For comparison...power phases will effect OC'ability.
Anyhow got a notification to purchase but will pass on it...wait n see how robust the Dark is..robust when used in the same sentence as Motherboard refers to power delivery or power phases....
also, to quality of the phases and what type. Not all boards with same numnerical amount are the same.

Re: Introducing the EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED - the NU Audio on the board

The description for the Z690 Classified mentions NU Audio on the board. Wondering how this is implemented on the board itself with respect to DSD output. The NU Audio Card outputs dsd via the line out connection (stereo left and right channels) For this is DSD output via the onboard HDMI connection for a multi-channel output? Looks like the realtek 1220 does support DSD Thanks

On the product page https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=121-AL-E698-KR and when the queue opens again you'll see an "Auto Notify" button. You click that to enter the queue. No one knows when it will reopen.
